A single tragedy can alter the fate of everything.
Marinette never received the Ladybug miraculous. She honestly barely feels like she makes it though the day, let alone imagines universe where she could be a hero. For three years, the only good thing in her life has been the sudden existence of miraculous heroes, Bella Fortuna and Chat Noir. And even that is more of a gleam of hope for the Paris, not for the lonely girl in the back of a class.
She wasn't good, or strong, or nice, but out of everyone who wants to be a hero and join the heroes in defeating Hawkmoth, she's the one who comes into possession of a broken Peacock brooch.

Idk I hate struggle Harry stories when he falls for super obvious mind games? Like, he's a smart, that's why manipulation of him in the books had layers, everyone focuses in on him falling for the Sirius vision and ignores that he DID check with kreacher. The elf went out of his way to be tricky in a way that Harry didn't account for. That's layers of manipulation there, as well as snape being his usual worthless self, and not at least attempting to let Harry know he was checking or anything (5th year, snape KNOWS how Harry acts smh)
This is just, blatant, and Harry should be able to think out of it, cause 1 he's rich, smart, and also has experience tramping down on his own wants and needs. This would have been more interesting if he had decided to get some other lackluster job that, because that would have ACTUALLY infuriated Tom
