Feng Xin knew Mu Qing was proficient at many things and that was probably what this entire situation had stemmed from. See, Mu Qing was good with his hands - great in fact, phenomenal even. Anything his hands did, they did well and Feng Xin took notice.
Feng Xin had been obsessed with Mu Qing’s hands for a very long time now. It had all started well before they had ascended, when they had both been attendants for Xie Lian. He first took notice of them when Mu Qing had been braiding Xie Lian’s hair for a banquet, hands and fingers moving swiftly as he softly chatted away about Xie Lian’s schedule for the day. Across the room, Feng Xin’s eyes kept drifting towards Mu Qing's long fingers as they wove Xie Lian’s hair into complicated patterns, fastening the pieces into an ornamental style, and finishing off the updo with pins and a shining hair piece.
It made Feng Xin uncomfortable at the time, inclining him to shift around until his skin didn’t feel so tight. Now, he knew better.

“I’m going off, husband. See you tonight?” His husband dusts his hands off, wiping them on the front of Feng Xin’s robes before turning around, that fucker.
“Mn, see you later baobei.”
Feng Xin’s gaze follows Mu Qing’s figure as he disappears with a laugh into their palace with a whip of black hair down the corridor. He hoped that the uneasiness in his chest would dissipate once he spent time with Mu Qing but it sticks in between his lungs like an unwelcome dagger.
There are two things right now Feng Xin is very sure of: Mu Qing is a very skilled liar.
Something is most definitely wrong.In the aftermath, things have settled between Feng Xin and Mu Qing, now married, but when Mu Qing shows increasingly concerning and unexplainable symptoms, Feng Xin's concern drives them both towards an event that will change their lives for the rest of the eternity they've promised each other.

General Nan Yang hates General Xuan Zhen. Their rivalry bleeds over their followers on opposite sides of the same territory. There was no tolerance, just pride and resentment.
But Ju Yang doesn't hate, no, he is different from the other two. Ju Yang loves his Qing-mei. Loves when he scratches, loves when he fights, loves when Qing-mei try so hard to get away from his hands only to guide them away from prying eyes. Ju Yang loves to hunt him down and devour him, piece by piece. And his precious and beloved Qing-mei always gives him exactly all he wants.

Mu Qing had been against the idea in the beginning. And why wouldn’t he be? Feng Xin was never a person he’d gotten along with. They were constantly at odds with each other. He didn’t believe that Feng Xin truly wanted to help him. He’d even questioned why Xie Lian couldn’t be the one to treat him. But with Hua Cheng’s sudden disappearance and Xie Lian’s subsequent despair, it was easy to see why he needed space.
On top of that, Feng Xin had been adamant in his desire to aid him. He couldn’t help it. He wanted to protect someone weaker than him. And at this moment, it happened to be Mu Qing.
Maybe it was because it was Mu Qing.
Following the battle that wrecked heaven and the events in Mount Tonglu, Mu Qing is left weak and injured. Burn marks cover his legs and hands, and he has difficulty moving without pain. Feng Xin, shaken by the incident he witnessed in the mountain, offers his assistance to help heal Mu Qing’s wounds.

Feng Xin stares in disbelief as he watches Xie Lian, the Crown Prince, the Prince Who Pleased The Gods, kiss a Supreme rank ghost with full ferocity. He gets on his toes and cups Hua Cheng’s cheeks, pressing his eyes closed as their lips meet. Feng Xin’s jaw nearly hits the ground, and if they weren’t in the middle of a battle against vengeful spirits, he would probably be screaming his head off. Instead, he’s stuck with three other martial gods making up this stupid damn sword as they all watch the disturbing display of affection. It’s unsettling and frankly wholly uncouth in its obscenity. This is the one time in the archer’s life he’s wished with full sincerity that he were blind.
As their lips touch, Feng Xin is struck completely speechless, “…”
“…” Mu Qing is the same, staring with thinly veiled disgust.
“…?” Poor innocent Quan Yizhen has no idea what’s going on, ever.
“Ho ho,” Pei Ming, of course, is smirking and enjoying the view.

Feng Xin and Mu Qing were crammed into a piss-poor excuse for a tent while their Prince journeyed through the land, defeating demons and ghosts in his quest to save the common people. Mu Qing rolled over in his sleep, facing Feng Xin, and gently grasped his hand. The unexpected touch startled Feng Xin awake, though finding a pale hand unconsciously nestled into his did little to ease his racing heartbeat.

Summary
Mu Qing sat beneath the sloped roof of one of Nan Yang’s many temples scattered across the mortal realm, the weight in his chest far heavier than the wounds he bore. The air was still, save for the rapid thud of his heart beating wildly not just from the frantic escape he’d just endured, but from something far less tangible, far more suffocating.
Before him stood the stone likeness of Feng Xin, carved in reverence but lacking the warmth and life of the man it represented. The statue offered no comfort, only the stark reminder of who he had nearly called out to. Who he might have to.
Whatever had attacked him had worn the faces of people he once trusted. It had cursed him, drained him, left him barely clinging to consciousness. His spiritual energy was too weak to use the communication array, his limbs trembling from the weight of pain and confusion.
Mu Qing knew what had to be done.
But doubt clung to him like a second skin. Would Feng Xin hear him if he prayed? And if he did… would he come?
Would he care?
TLDR: Mu Qing needs to pray at a Nan Yang temple for help. Feng Xin was late leaving Mu Qing to be tortured.

Ever since Mount Tonglu, Feng Xin has been touching Mu Qing more often, and more softly, causing a swooping sensation in his stomach every time.
It’s not a bad feeling, necessarily, but Mu Qing can’t really tell if it’s good, either — not until a curse makes him unable to feel any touch at all, and he realizes just how much all those gentle touches have been affecting him.
