Feng Xin knew Mu Qing was proficient at many things and that was probably what this entire situation had stemmed from. See, Mu Qing was good with his hands - great in fact, phenomenal even. Anything his hands did, they did well and Feng Xin took notice.
Feng Xin had been obsessed with Mu Qing’s hands for a very long time now. It had all started well before they had ascended, when they had both been attendants for Xie Lian. He first took notice of them when Mu Qing had been braiding Xie Lian’s hair for a banquet, hands and fingers moving swiftly as he softly chatted away about Xie Lian’s schedule for the day. Across the room, Feng Xin’s eyes kept drifting towards Mu Qing's long fingers as they wove Xie Lian’s hair into complicated patterns, fastening the pieces into an ornamental style, and finishing off the updo with pins and a shining hair piece.
It made Feng Xin uncomfortable at the time, inclining him to shift around until his skin didn’t feel so tight. Now, he knew better.

“I know, we haven’t bathed together since we were kids in Xianle. Fuck, it’s been so long and that was out of necessity more than anything.” He feels Feng Xin taking a few steps back from him while he tries to calm himself enough to lower his hands and start undressing as well.

Summary
“I’m going off, husband. See you tonight?” His husband dusts his hands off, wiping them on the front of Feng Xin’s robes before turning around, that fucker.
“Mn, see you later baobei.”
Feng Xin’s gaze follows Mu Qing’s figure as he disappears with a laugh into their palace with a whip of black hair down the corridor. He hoped that the uneasiness in his chest would dissipate once he spent time with Mu Qing but it sticks in between his lungs like an unwelcome dagger.
There are two things right now Feng Xin is very sure of: Mu Qing is a very skilled liar.
Something is most definitely wrong.In the aftermath, things have settled between Feng Xin and Mu Qing, now married, but when Mu Qing shows increasingly concerning and unexplainable symptoms, Feng Xin's concern drives them both towards an event that will change their lives for the rest of the eternity they've promised each other.
