Leon had always had hard lines he didn’t cross. Couldn’t cross. And dismissing the lives of innocent people as unimportant was at the very top of his list of absolute no-gos. It was also quite certainly a line Krauser had crossed. Multiple times. Even if, granted, he had managed to capture Ashley with no casualties and minimal injuries, and as far as Leon could prove the only throat he’d genuinely tried to slit was Leon’s.
Fuck if that made it any better. It didn’t. Leon was literally sleeping with someone who might change his mind and stab him in the back at any second. He was playing house with someone who was incapable of communicating basic emotions if the conversation didn’t include a knife fight. And he was hopelessly, helplessly committed to it regardless. There was no one else for him. No matter how much he wished things were easier, no one else wanted him like Krauser did.
Even worse, he didn’t want anyone else as much as he wanted Krauser.
