“Atoned?” Matt says incredulously. He hand spasms on Dex’s neck like he’s physically restraining himself from painting the walls with his brain matter. Dex is dizzy with the prolonged contact, the drag of leather between the cartilage rings of his windpipe. The pain feels like absolution.
