Padmé had never known love, nor was she made for it. She had been raised in the dark ways of the Sith since her beginning. That darkness was what filled the empty space in her heart, a space most left for love. Her terrible purpose she had accepted as soon as her mind began to form thoughts. She was the sole apprentice of the great Lord of the Sith. The Lord's last apprentice was sacrificed so that she could take their place. Only Padmé was strong enough to become Lord of the Sith one day. Her master had grown weak in his old age, and it was only a matter of time before it was necessary for him to be... replaced.
Which is why she sought an apprentice. One to make two, when her master passed on. An apprentice to turn to darkness, to serve her needs, to help her fulfill... her purpose.

Undoubtedly, he was even younger than that; the evidence hung behind his right ear and down to his shoulder – he was a Padawan. Anakin sat up in shock. “Master, what’s going on?”
Obi-Wan turned to look back over his own shoulder, but there was no one there. Who was this boy talking to? Who was he calling Master? “Uhh. . . I, uhhh . . . I’m . . .” Obi-Wan started to back away.
“Obi-Wan?” Anakin tried again.
Obi-Wan stopped in his tracks. “You – you know me?”
“Of course I know you!” Anakin’s expression was painted with horror. “You don’t know me??” he asked unnerved.

Summary
Darth Vader was found by Sidious and raised as a Sith to be his master's destructive hand until he is sent on an assassin mission to kill the Jedi Master Obi-wan Kenobi that had defeated Darth Maul. Upon meeting Darth Vader realizes the Jedi who specializes in defense isn't weak at all but the opposite and something in him is drawing Vader to the encompassing Light from Kenobi that is as bright as two suns. As time goes and each attempt fails, Vader begins to lack the drive to harm the other and becomes tempted to get closer to the Light from Kenobi that both burns and comforts.
