Clawed fingers drag across the wall, leaving jagged marks in a long, lazy trail. It's strange how easy it is, for jagged claws to cut through wood and concrete and metal. There are a lot of things strange about the Upside Down, it's inhabitants most of all.

The word is familiar, but he can't quite grasp its meaning. It is said with intent, a voice outside of his own, not that he's spoken in awhile. Who would he speak to?
"Johnny." The voice calls again, and this time he catches the worry in the tone, the relief, the fear. Why is it afraid? It's such a pretty voice, with the slightest metallic ring. It's nice to listen to, he thinks, even with the fear. He can't remember the last time he heard another voice.
"Open your eyes." The voice says. He isn't sure when he closed them, but he never is these days. The darkness and the light look a lot alike. He obeys the voice, if only because he wishes to know to whom it belongs.

Johnny isn't sure how long he's been flying. That's the thing about space, there aren't any reference points to mark the passage of time, or the speed he's flying. He thinks he must be going pretty damn fast, considering the clump of stars he's headed towards look bigger than they had an hour ago. Or what he assumes was an hour ago. Again, it's kind of hard to tell, and his wrist comm is broken to the point that it's trying to tell him it's been three days. As if. He's not even thirsty!
…he is kind of hungry though.

His sister is down for the count, Galactus is still trying to crawl his way out of the portal, and there's nothing anyone can do.
Except him.

Striking green eyes glared up at Hoskins even as the other raptors chased the pig. The man found himself holding his breath as images of sharp white teeth flashed in his head, the distinct feeling of being judged rearing up in his mind. He released it as the animal finally looked away, chasing after its smaller brethren.
He doesn't notice the trainer, Barry, staring intently at him in much the same way as the raptor was, nor does he notice the derisive huff or the small smirk of anticipation gracing his face.
It's funny, not many can say they've stared death in the face and lived to tell the tale. At least, not for very long.

He hadn’t even been careful enough to find a vein, prioritizing jabbing in the needle over precision, but it still did its work.
