The more damaged Noma realizes Ogata is, the more drawn to Ogata he becomes- but there is no helping someone who does not want to be helped.

Noma wanted to look away, but found himself unable to move. There was an overwhelming vulnerability in Ogata's appearance which felt too enormous to admit into thought, let alone words. So he didn’t. But not speaking of something did not lessen its presence.
