A 1950s Southern Gothic Horror AU surrounding Shadowheart, now known as Nightshade, where a surprise encounter with a strangely familiar girl she swears she's never met ropes her into an uneasy, whirlwind friendship. As their friendship grows, however, so do the stakes: the church-school who raised her would never approve of a relation with an outsider, especially not one as close as theirs. To boot, people around Charleston are dying, and strangely, Nightshade seems to be at the heart of it. Unable to trust her own mind, she, an old friend, and one new, are forced to solve a string of entwined murders and mysteries about Nightshade, to solve if she's the culprit, before the next victim turns out to be someone she cares about.

Failed priestess and chronic womanizer Neffeyla Qil'oussiryn never thought she'd amount to much without Lolth's guidance. So, she turned to the surface instead... until a certain kidnapping and crashed Nautiloid completely threw off her plans. But while the surface is a grim place, a certain dark and mysterious priestess has caught her eye, practically begging to get caught up in her web. And if the tadpole is going to kill them all, why not have some fun on the way out?
Shadowheart is nothing if not loyal to her goddess, Shar, which has often set her outside "good and decent" society. It's never something that bothered her... she thinks. It's hard to know for sure when you don't have any memories. It's also hard to understand what she feels when her mission fails and she's swept into an uneasy alliance with an unfamiliar drow, whose flirtatious intentions seem suspicious at best, and threatening at worst. Yet there's something almost familiar about her that draws her in, sometimes dangerously close. Perhaps it's just because they both follow dark gods, the way Neph never makes her feel so ostracized and alone. Or perhaps it's something else...

Something-resembling-a-vampire/human thriller-romance set in a very much believable Roshar, in the time between Oathbringer and Rhythm of War. What's not to love? A back and forth of torture and comfort for Kaladin, stress for Leshwi, and a forbidden fling to top it all off. Beautifully written, 11/10, would recommend again. Also a huge fan of the vampiric spin on the singer lore, which is done with so much love and care.

Summary
With the discovery of anti-stormlight, the fused are determined to start knocking some of the major players of the knight's radiant off the board for good. At the start of a battle, Kaladin, as one of the most influential people in the war, is targeted.
But Leshwi thinks this is an extremely dishonorable strategy.

Kaladin coughed up blood. Only a little, for now. But if he was coughing up blood at all, the spear had clipped a lung, if not outright punctured it. Drowning on his own blood was yet another way he could die here, lying face down in the dust and crem. Leshwi must have put him here, he realized. If he'd hit the ground on his own, he would be dead already. But he wasn't, and Leshwi had killed one of her own people for him. Huh. She must really like him to try this hard to save his life.

A fun (painful) Kaleshwi story taking place in an AU where the events of Wind and Truth haven't occurred. Anti-stormlight has become a weapon of war, and Kaladin's one unfortunate recipient, but hey, if it means we get to see some Leshwi being protective...
A great one if you're interested in Leshwi defecting from Odium's side as well! -

Beautifully written and great for the Jasnah appreciators. Excellent understanding of her personality and how she handles the world. On the more slice of life side, which Jasnah frankly needs given she is always working, with a lot on character development. Do recommend.
