Cole Watertusk the Armaldo has been living within his home city's safe, protecting walls his entire life, without much care for the happenings outside. Doesn't mean he's happy there. Job after job after job falls through for him, and he can't help thinking to himself day after day how little he belongs there.
The city's isolated, though. Nobody within its walls knows what the world's like outside - they've been living inside those walls for centuries, after all.

Summary
30% of the world, for some unknown reason, has been transformed into Pokémon. Many of the transformed are lucky with what they'd ended up with- getting more humanoid forms like Machoke and Lucario.
Others... not so much.
Being a fish out of water ain't so fun now, is it.

This fic is inspired by jackboy0815's "Percentverse" universe originating from FFN. This is more of my own take on the subject than anything canon, though.
Crossposted on FFN.
(The 'Major Character Death' was selected tentatively. Not sure if it'll actually happen, but based on what I've built up so far it very much might.)

Summary
Rusty keeps having dreams. Dreams about hunting and fighting, but mostly about cats. Cats he's never met, who he can never remember properly upon waking up, but who feel as real and important as anything else in his life. He's willing to do whatever it takes to figure out what these dreams mean, even if it means abandoning his old life for a new one in the wild.

I'll prob catch up to this one every ~10 new chaps or so since it updates so frequently with shorter chapters. Will prob fully lock in on reading this when it gets into the good stuff though, a la why this series was written in the first place (arcs getting randomized), or if updates slow down significantly. Still a really good fic so far.

A cat named Rusty seems to develop an unusual and strong connection to Starclan before he even steps foot into the forest - such a strange occurrence that Spottedleaf and Bluestar decide that young Firepaw must have a different destiny than they'd first imagined.
Or, what if Firepaw was chosen to become Spottedleaf's apprentice instead of Bluestar's?

I think this is my favorite interpretation of Starclan and probably multiple first-series characters - Redtail 1000%, Dustpelt absolutely, plus characters like Fireheart, Sandstorm, Tigerclaw, etc. In general I just really love the characters here. Seeing how all of them go down each of their different paths is so fun and even though I can assume things'll go somewhat similarly to how they go in the original first arc there are so many little things that make this story in particular such a fun read for me! Very much excited to see where this goes!
Story Summary (Spoilers)
You can tell how much i like this fic by how long ts is
This fic's a rewrite of TPB, though (probably obviously) with a ton of major changes. For one, Firepaw (and by proxy all kittypets) are British in this timeline! Wahoo spooky anyways Dustpelt's given a lot more focus and is far more obviously grieving his mentor's and parents' deaths, and ends up latching himself to Firepaw when the tom opens himself up to Dust. Hmm. I wonder where he got that from? (Redtail)
Speaking of Redtail, he literally did the same thing to Fire like, 4 chapters later anyways technically, just not in the same way. Not romantically, at least. Just like, attaches his spirit to Firepaw when Fire visits the moonstone with Bluestar due to being a 'poor star chosen soul', giving him some sort of power that I don't quite know the full implications of yet. He can see how many lives leaders have at the very least, plus it seems that when Redtail's feeling a particularly strong emotion(?), his tongue buzzes.
Sandpaw/storm has a really fun arc since rather than her and Dust being left behind, it's only her that's left behind in the apprentice's den since Dust was with Fire, Gray and Raven when they invaded Shadowclan. She also finds out about Tiger killing Redtail through Silverstream after she's left alone, which is genuinely so fun for her character and ended up being the start of her semi-redemption arc where she goes to the Moonstone before basically forcing herself into Fire's circle of friends. She's also the one to discover Gray's relationship with Silverstream which is. Really funny. Especially since the latter two try to pass it off as discussing Tigerclaw stuff, which she believes, but won't let them talk about it alone.
Tigerclaw's a bit different than he is in canon, not going after power for the sake of being power-hungry (even if it might be there a little bit subconsciously), but rather wanting revenge for Thistleclaw, who'd been either set up to be or killed outright by Redtail. He's generally a lot more remorseful about his actions, and even sees Firepaw/heart as a friend and a great cat for Thunderclan's future. He does still go through with all of what he'd done in the original books however, at least as far as this fic's gotten.
Finally, the afterlife in general is done in a way I don't think I've seen before? Starclan and the Dark Forest are still things, but what's done with the spirits themselves is very unique. Spirits are far less put-together than in the original series, from what I can see devolving more and more into scribbles and scraggles based on their own sanity rather than how much a cat is remembered, or at least I think? There might be multiple layers to things in that regard.
