“I deserve to be here just as much as anyone else.” John spat, his face close to the recruit.
The room grew stuffy with the uncomfortable situation as most of the recruits ducked their heads or stuck their knives and forks into their food to seem busy.
He lifted his hands off the table and opting to put them on his hips as he looked around the mess and continued, “Who thinks I don’t deserve my position? Raise of hands.”
One confident hand.
John hummed, smiling towards the recruit in an uneasy way that made the recruit relax his shoulders before John slammed the recruits food tray onto the ground.
“Ten laps around the base! Now!”The recruit jumped up out of his seat, scrambling into position as he ran out of the mess with John hot on his tail beside him.
“Move yer ass! Ye run like an old nan! I’ve seen paralyzed men run better than that!” -
