When Helix had first found out about Melidaan, a lot of his General's habits slotted neatly into place. Like a broken bone that healed wrong, he'd called it. All he could do was try and mitigate the damage.

Summary
Desmond fulfilled his destiny, as was foretold. He lived four different lifetimes, give or take a few, and just wanted some damned rest, away from responsibility and the weight of the world on his shoulders. What does he get instead? A new world to save and a fantastical evil he was in no way prepared for. An Assassin works in the shadows, but Desmond is raised up as the figurehead of a religion he doesn't believe in, to save a world not his own, and be the leader of an army.
