“Wait, Soundwave’s alive?” Knock Out jumps up, knocking an exam table to the side with a clang. “You can’t let him out! He’ll kill us all! And most importantly, he will definitely kill me for being a traitor,” he hisses.
“We won’t let him kill you,” Ratchet promises, with perhaps an unwarranted level of confidence.

Summary
After a scouting mission at an energon deposit turns into a scuffle with some Decepticons, Smokescreen is accidentally teleported away by a ground bridge summoned by Soundwave. He wakes up to find himself in the middle of nowhere with his comms offline, and, to make matters worse, an injured Soundwave is there with him, now unable to summon ground bridges. The two are forced to work with each other to make it back to their respective lives and factions as the strange effects of the haywire ground bridge start to make themselves known. Sticking together may be the last thing they want to do, but it may prove to be the key to their survival; misery acquaints a mech with strange bedfellows, after all.

On Cybertron, during a particularly uneventful orn, Megatronus had a different train of thought than usual - rather than letting the two mechs he considered his confidants get to know each other on their own, he believed it better to introduce them himself. A precaution, he called it.
Soundwave understood the suggestion for both the protection it offered and the means of surveillance it truly was. He accepted, seeing no major downsides to his fellow gladiator introducing this... Iaconian archivist... to him. Thus, on another orn with oddly pleasant weather— Megatronus personally introduced the knowledge-seeker, Orion Pax, to his most enigmatic ally, Soundwave.
It was a choice that Soundwave would both despise and cherish, in the aeons of war to come.

Summary
It had been three years. For three years the Decepticons have been without their leader, with neither a whisper nor a glimpse as to his whereabouts and status. Upon Lord Megatron's triumphant return, rather than the grand Decepticon armada that was expected, he had returned with something much more sinister, Dark Energon. Unfortunately, too soon after Megatron’s plot for Dark Energon was thwarted by the Autobots, he perishes for good.
It is now up to the remainder of the Decepticons to attempt to fulfil his legacy.
