Chapter Text
"Dank Ferrik!" Din cursed, as another missile buried itself in his ship, this time in the left wing. He could feel it buck in his hands as alarms blared, which they already were doing from the damage they'd taken. They were losing power and threatened to become a floating heap of scrap in space, if they didn't get blown to pieces completely. "Hold on, kid!" He yelled, glancing at the green creature over his shoulder for just a moment. Grogu squealed excitedly and had his small hand clenched around the silver ball. Din doubted the kid grasped the severity of the situation.
He leaned forward to shift the controls, activating and deactivating different buttons, trying to control the damage enough to be able to manoeuvre the crest and get a shot in. Miraculously he managed to turn it around, just as the small ship that had been attacking them approached again. It was most likely a rogue bounty hunter, going after him because of the kid. He engaged his blasters and pushed the razor crest forward, trying to aim as best he could with the damaged systems. He clenched his teeth at the impacts from the smaller ship's blasters, realising the his trusted ship was becoming too damaged, before sighing in relief as he finally hit his mark. The shot burned a hole through the engine, instantly blowing it up and consuming the little ship.
His relief was short, however, as the crest started shaking more and more and the alarms were nearly deafening, all lights blinking red. The navigation was flickering on and off, probably a damaged circuit. The best he could do was navigate to the nearest planet and hope they made it there in one piece. "Hang on, this is going to be a rough landing!" He yelled, as he heard Grogu giggling behind him. He wished he could take the small creature in his arms, protect him with his beskar armor from the impact, to some extent. But he absolutely needed both hands and all mobility to try his best not to let them plummet to the planet like a stone, as he was already a hand short now that the landing array wasn’t responding. He had just enough fuel to slow them down for landing, if he timed it right.
