It Comes with the Territory

Hizashi’s territory was a source of pride and joy in his life. It had been passed down through his family for generations of dragons, from alpha to alpha, yet Hizashi should’ve never inherited it. He was an omega, afterall: a dragon with submissive hormones and a ‘naturally weaker constitution’. If he’d had any siblings who were alphas (or even betas), they would’ve been the first to inherit, but he’d been the only survivor of his parents’ only nest, so after their untimely death it had fallen into his claws.
He’d never heard of an omega owning territory before, but dragons weren’t exactly social creatures. Perhaps it was more common than he thought?
As he awoke, Hizashi decided it was a perfect day to re-mark his territory. His limbs stretched out across his cozy nest, his long claws kneading through dead leaves and animal furs, but coins and smooth gems also met his golden scales. A nearby treasure pile had spilled into his nest a week ago, having collapsed under its own weight, and he hadn’t found the motivation to fix it up yet. Perhaps the messiness weighed him down with sad nostalgia - his father had always preferred sleeping on the hoards of wealth than in the cozy nest. Such a stereotypical dragon… Hizashi had never understood the appeal, but then again he’d always been more interested in company than treasure.
At the centre of his lair was a roaring fire. A stranger might have mistaken the golden flicker in the flames for a mirage - a trick of the light caused by the piles of shimmering treasure - but they would’ve been mistaken. His bloodline’s golden flames were another wellspring of pride, and the prospect of one day dazzling a mate with his fire occupied his thoughts more often than not.
Hizashi slipped from his cave, but his expectations were subverted as soon as he stepped outside. Instead of a warm glow, his scales were ghosted by a fiendishly cold wind. Dark clouds covered the sky, foreshadowing an approaching storm. However, it wasn’t enough to dampen his mood. He would walk the boundaries of his territory, re-scent it, and then he’d return to the comfort of his cave before the rain began.
Although the air was cold, the rich smell of his familial land was enough to keep him warm. His feathered wings automatically stretched to catch the homely breeze, and a few loose feathers were swept away by its pull. It’d been a while since he’d last been groomed by another dragon, and some areas were too difficult to reach, whether he was in his dragon form or his more humanoid form.
The trees were tall and wide, with leaves that perfectly dappled the sunlight, offering plenty of shade for him to lurk beneath when the sun grew too warm for comfort. Of course that wasn’t noticeable today, thanks to the clouds above, but when summer arrived-... His feathers puffed out at the thought of summer.
They were now on the tailend of winter, and spring loomed ominously in his future. When he’d been a young dragon, spring had been his favourite part of the year, but now its approach filled him with dread. Now it coincided with his most despised part of every year: Mating Season.
For most dragons, it was a time of love and courting and sex, but for Hizashi it was a time of torture. His hormones would flare without warning. He’d be desperate for any sense of sexual gratification, yet the itch was impossible to scratch without an alpha to bond with. How could he properly mate when there weren’t any other dragons around?
Year by year, Hizashi had faced the same predicament. He could search for an alpha, like most omegas did, but he’d risk losing his territory forever. What if another clan of dragons stole it while he was away? If he’d been unsuccessful in finding a mate, he would end up as one of those dragons that wandered the world without a home.
It wasn’t worth the risk, so he’d never left his territory, but his hormones only grew worse and worse as his mateless years progressed.
What would he choose this year…?
Hizashi wandered around his boundaries, occasionally rubbing his golden scales and feathers against the bark of pre-scratched trees to highlight his scent. He didn’t imagine an omega’s scent would be enough to stop any aggressive dragon from trying to take over his territory, but Hizashi was more than capable of holding his own, even against an alpha.
He wouldn’t surrender his territory without a fight.
Of course the trip around his boundaries wouldn’t’ve been complete without a stop at the lake. The water was crystal clear and its depths held countless, delicious fish. If he’d been hungry, he might’ve used the opportunity to grab himself a literal bite, but he had plenty of food stored in his cave that he hadn’t eaten over the course of winter.
Even so, he used the opportunity to partake in his reflection.
Hizashi was a beautiful dragon with golden scales and fine, yellow feathers that covered his head and neck like a lion’s mane. They ran down his spine and fanned out into a pair of large feathered wings. Although dragons would birth a clutch of eggs, they would nurse their hatched litter, so on Hizashi’s underside were six small buds that would follow him into his humanoid form. His ears were reminiscent of a goat’s, as were his small horns, and the moustache that hung beneath his nostrils was far longer in this form compared to his human form.
He was a tad narcissistic, but with good reason. Even his human body was handsome - although that wasn’t unusual for a dragon.
The most catching part of his reflection, however, were his emerald green eyes.
As he marvelled his own reflection, the rain started far sooner than expected. The first droplet made its presence known by landing directly on his snout. It slowly ran down one of the long lengths of his moustache and the feeling was enough to make him snuffle with annoyance.
He went to voice some remark about the audacious rain, but the words caught in his inhuman throat, stymied by his isolation. Hizashi’s ears drooped against his head and quivered.
The first drop was joined by a second, then a third and a fourth. The rain slid down his scales and beaded on his feathers, prompting him to end his territorial marking early so he could return to the safety of his cave.
The rain grew heavier and heavier as he hurried home, until it was a sheet of grey water. It rolled off the leaves above and created a mist that tumbled between trees and turned familiar rocky outcrops into dark, monstrous shapes. If he hadn’t known his home so well, he might’ve been lost in the torent. Thankfully, he arrived back safely, and as soon as he stepped inside his home he shook his body to dispel any excess water, causing his feathers to puff out like a porcupine.
Hizashi huffed unhappily and returned to his warm familial nest at the back of the cave, while the fire sent lights reflecting off his golden form. The bedding was comfortable and he wasted no time in curling his body to mirror the circular structure of his nest, although it was too large for him alone. He buried his long snout beneath his paws and easily drifted off into slumber, carried even quicker with the roar of the rain…
-x-
Hizashi was woken by the thrum of his instincts. There was an intruder in his territory. Intruder. Intruder. The sound of the rain continued to drum through the background, louder than it’d been before slumber had stolen him. He was trying to theorise his defensive plan, but he was apparently too late: from the entrance of his lair appeared a large shadow.
They were a dragon - that much was clear - but their scent was washed out thanks to the water. Despite the vibrant light from his fire, it was difficult to make out more than their silhouette as they stopped just at the threshold of his lair, where the short tunnel met the cavern.
Hizashi moved to his feet, teeth immediately bared. He was ready to fight. His threatening growl rumbled through the cave, his feathers stood on end, and if he’d been in his humanoid form there might’ve been words of warning, but shifting would’ve put him at an immediate disadvantage.
So, he was certainly surprised when the enemy dragon shrunk to their humanoid form, although they had yet to step into the light.
“Storming,” called the stranger. They were male, and the deepness of their voice sent a shudder through his body. He couldn’t remember when he’d last heard someone else speak… “Can I stay ‘til it stops? No where else to go.”
His instincts screamed at him to refuse. This was an enemy in his territory! He might wait for him to fall asleep and attempt to steal it! What if he was an alpha who was so disgusted by the prospect of an omega with territory that he’d kill him as soon as his guard was down?
...Well, he didn’t seem like an alpha. An alpha would not have asked if they could stay - they would’ve just stayed. Then again, there was a test he could do...
Hizashi growled a sound of disagreement, to tell him he couldn’t stay. If this dragon was an alpha, he would surely ignore his refusal and-
“...’Kay.” The stranger shifted back into their dragon form and instantly turned, exiting the cave without a glance back. Oh, he wasn’t an alpha?
Feeling a stab of guilt, Hizashi picked himself up and hurried after him.
As the blond reached the mouth of the cave, he could see the silhouette of the dragon. He was almost surprised by their sheer size, but he simply decided it was a trick of the light (or lack thereof). They were trying to use their hefty wings to shield themselves from the torrent, but there were holes in the leather that made the act futile.
“Wait!” Hizashi called out as he shifted into his humanoid form. The other dragon stopped and he thought he saw it turn to look back at him. “You can stay, but just until it stops raining, ‘kay? You can warm up by the fire.”
Cold wind whipped through the entrance of his cave, sending goosebumps across his skin, but with it came the briefest hint of a certain smell: alpha.
Wait…! This dragon was an...
The hulking form completely turned and lumbered towards the cave. Hizashi stepped back, stricken and confused by what was happening. Was this dragon really an alpha? Was he going to attack him now and steal his territory?
Despite his fear, Hizashi didn’t rescind his offer as the alpha neared his home, but he did shift back into his own dragon form so he could hurry back to his nest. The low edges of it felt like a tall barrier that would protect him from anything. Hizashi poked his head up to watch what the alpha would do.
The alpha didn’t make any sudden movements as he finally reached the heat of the fire and set himself down. Finally Hizashi was given a good view of his unexpected guest.
The creature looked comedically miserable. Instead of feathers, this dragon had long shaggy hair that was currently soaked through with rain, so it hung heavy around his snout. His wings were featherless too, only made up of scales and leather, and there were several holes running through them. If flight hadn’t been rendered impossible by the broken wings, then it definitely was due to his sheer size. Hizashi had never seen a dragon as large as this alpha. This curiosity was at least twice his size.
For an alpha dragon, he wasn’t that attractive. His eyes were small, and everything about him was dark: his fur, his scales, his aura. Several scars lined his body, most notably beneath his right eye, and perhaps the tears in his wings had been thanks to some fights. His ears were similar to Hizashi’s, but they were mostly hidden by large horns that curled around like a ram’s.
It was clear what he was without even talking to him: an alpha without a home.
Hizashi had to stay on guard.
Despite the tension, the alpha appeared content to sit by the fire and soak in the heat. He closed his heavy eyes and paid no attention to the piles of treasure or the ‘defenceless’ unmated omega. Time moved slowly, with only the sound of the fire and the storm outside to distract him.
The tension began to ease, and another prospect was quickly catching Hizashi’s interest, until he finally surrendered and shifted into his humanoid form.
His skin was soft with the occasional scale to dot the surface, while small yellow feathers decorated the back of his limbs. His mane of feathers had been replaced with long blond hair that hung around his face and off his shoulders, and he still had his tail, wings, goat ears, horns and his emerald eyes.
“What’s your name?” Hizashi asked too casually, trying to feign only slight interest. He didn’t want to seem too desperate for conversation - even if he was.
The alpha opened his tired eyes and looked at him. Hizashi expected to spy some reaction as the other dragon beheld how beautiful he was, but there was nothing of the sort. He looked completely disinterested, but he did shift into his human form as well. It was difficult to make out his face through his wet black hair, but he could spy plenty of stubble across his jaw, and his eyes weren’t too different from his dragon form. The scars stayed, and dark fur dusted the backs of his arms. He was far smaller in human form, but was still large compared to Hizashi.
“Aizawa,” he said slowly, as if he didn’t really want to give it. There was a silence afterwards. Hizashi expected to be asked the same question, but the alpha didn’t ask it.
“I’m Yamada,” he proclaimed, using his family name. The alpha grunted and closed his eyes. Not the talkative sort…? Bummer… Hizashi’s ears drooped - his first guest in years and he was-
“Fire’s nice.” Hizashi blinked in surprise, taken aback by the compliment, but the alpha hadn’t opened his eyes. “Thanks for the shelter...”
His ears raised a little. “Oh! No worries! Sorry I sent you out briefly! I’m a tad paranoid and I wasn’t too sure if I could trust you ‘cause you’re an alpha.” He expected a defensive reply, but instead the other man just grunted. Hizashi swallowed and asked, “Is your home near here?”
“No home.” He said it unemotionally, as if it wasn’t something horrible for a dragon to admit. “Too many alphas. Was kicked out.”
Hizashi nodded. That meant he was most likely searching for territory… His shoulders tensed. Did that mean he really was here for it? “Where’re you headed?”
“North for spring.”
“For territory…?”
Aizawa shook his head and scratched the back of his neck. “Far north, it stays cold during spring. No hormone swings if it’s too cold.”
Hizashi tilted his head in confusion. An alpha who didn’t want a mate…? “You’re not looking for territory?”
“No.”
Hizashi nodded slowly. He waited a little as he thought over what to ask next, but he was interrupted by gentle snores. The alpha had fallen asleep curled up by the fire, still in his humanoid form.
...He must’ve been exhausted. Hizashi wondered how long he’d been journeying before he’d come to rest here. Well, it didn’t matter. He was about to have a sleepless night since he couldn’t let his guard down while this alpha was here!
-x-
Hizashi woke up with a yawn. Immediately he was on edge, scolding himself for falling asleep in humanoid form while a potential enemy had been in his lair. However, when he looked around, he was once again alone. The rain had stopped.
Hizashi’s ears drooped. Well, guess he was alone again…
He stretched out his humanoid limbs and extended his wings, but was interrupted by the sound of someone entering his cave. A large figure came inside, their outline instantly recognisable as the alpha from last night. He wasn’t lumbering as much, but his movements were slow, as if his body was too heavy for him. Something was in his jaws.
Once again, curiosity won over when he should’ve been on edge. “Hey,” Hizashi said, trying to figure out what he was carrying. “You’re still here…?”
Aizawa dropped the dead deer beside the fire and shifted back into his human form, scratching at the back of his neck sheepishly. “Was leaving. Hunted down a deer for you as thanks. I’ll go now. Thank you.”
He turned and was about to leave, a slight sway in his step, but Hizashi stopped him. “Are you okay?” Aizawa nodded, but wasn’t very convincing. “One second…” The blond cautiously stepped out of his nest. His movements were skittish as he moved to the alpha’s side, and he had to force his body not to bare his throat in his presence. Despite that, as he approached, another scent grew stronger as well: dragon blood. It overpowered even the alpha’s natural smell. “You’re hurt?”
The alpha turned to him and Hizashi finally got to see his human face. Aizawa was handsome afterall, although he looked ragged with his long fringe and thick black stubble. His eyes were heavy with exhaustion. Hizashi could also see the wound, partially covered by dark hair around his right elbow. Aizawa hadn’t been lumbering last night: he’d been limping. “It’s fine,” he said dismissively.
“It’s clearly not!” At the proof of injury, Hizashi forgot all about caution as he grabbed the alpha’s arm and studied it. “When’d you get this? It’s infected!”
“Few days ago,” he willingly admitted. “Doesn’t hurt.” Hizashi’s instincts were quick to point out how much larger this man was compared to him, but he quickly shoved that away.
“Aha.” Hizashi placed a hand on Aizawa’s shoulder and lightly pressed it. “Sit down and I’ll gather some herbs that’ll help. I’m not sending you off like this…” He glanced at the dead deer, and his instincts were quick to pester him again. It was a big deer: this injured alpha was a good hunter. “Thanks for the food, but I can’t stomach it if it’s raw. You able to cook it while I get the herbs?” Aizawa nodded, surrendering easily to the offer. “Good - I’ll be back shortly!”
He hurried out of his cave and shifted so he could move more quickly through his territory. The rain had left everything coated in a glistening blanket. The world smelled so fresh and alive, but Hizashi could barely enjoy it as he dug around for the right roots and herbs for medicine. His mind was at war as he decided what to do. Part of him wanted the alpha to leave, in case he was really planning to steal his territory, while another part wanted the alpha to stay so they could become a family. Then he’d never be lonely again!
But then he’d have to spend the rest of his life with an alpha he didn’t know. Why was he even helping a dangerous stranger…?
Hizashi hurried back to the lair as soon as possible, to find Aizawa waiting. The deer had been roasted whole, and although it smelled heavenly, his attention was reserved for the alpha. “Here,” he said as he shifted back into his human form.
Hizashi chewed the bitter herbs and roots in his mouth to create a poultice. The medicine was applied to the wound and an old human cape was wrapped around it. Aizawa flinched slightly at the treatment, but didn’t complain once.
The makeshift bandage was tied off with a bow and Hizashi smiled up at the alpha. “Not too tight?”
“It’s perfect… But why’re you helping me?”
Hizashi blinked in surprise. He couldn’t really give an answer since even he didn’t know… “It’s the right thing to do,” he said at last, and the words felt right. “May I?” As he asked the question he slightly raised a hand, indicating he wanted to feel Aizawa’s cheek. The man nodded and lowered his head a little. Dark hair brushed against his fingers as he pressed his palm to the alpha’s cheek and then forehead, and Hizashi frowned in concern. “You’ve got a fever.”
“Too close to fire,” he mumbled dryly.
Hizashi huffed, a puff of dark smoke expelling from his mouth. “I can tell the difference. You should stay here for a few days, Aizawa - just until your wound’s looking better.” It was close to an order. An ordinary alpha might’ve lash out at the prospect of an omega giving them orders, but Aizawa…
“Shouta,” he said softly as he closed his eyes. “My first name’s Shouta…”
His ears raised. Something stirred inside Hizashi’s stomach, but he put the feeling away. He’d been lonely for so long, but that wasn’t an excuse to wear his heart on his sleeve. Even so… “It’s nice to meet you, Shouta. My name’s Hizashi.”
Maybe it was okay to be hopeful…
-x-
They devoured the deer quickly. Hizashi hadn’t realised how hungry he was until the first bite. His body must’ve been wanting extra food in preparation for Mating Season, to give himself the energy to keep up with a hormonal alpha.
It was annoying how his body made decisions without his agreement.
“How’d you get injured anyway?” he asked between bites.
Shouta grunted and ate his portions more slowly, clearly favouring his uninjured arm. Eating would’ve been faster in dragon form, but they wouldn’t be able to communicate unless they were bonded or of the same bloodline.
“Was caught between territories,” he drawled. “Tried to keep to the border to slip through but they caught me and attacked. Wasn’t in the mood for a fight so I got out as soon as I could.”
Hizashi nodded. “How long ago was that?”
“Three days.” His head dipped a little, as if he were struggling to stay awake.
“Why didn’t you stop sooner?”
He rolled his heavy shoulders and took another bite of deer. “Deadline. Got too far to go before spring starts.”
“Won’t be much of a deadline if you’re dead,” he complained as he put his hands on his hips, but something made him falter. “Three days, and you decided to stop in my territory?”
“Started raining,” he weakly argued, but it clearly wasn’t the whole truth. Shouta scratched the back of his neck and glanced away.
So, the alpha had thought he could take advantage of an omega afterall… Hizashi stood up and moved away from him, his ears drooped low. “Thanks for the deer. You can rest here until you’re healed up-”
“Was going to avoid your territory when I smelled omega,” Shouta admitted as he set down his food, but his dark eyes weren’t aimed at Hizashi. “But I was delusional from exhaustion, and your scent smelled like-...” He paused, swallowed, and then said in a lower voice, “Smelled nice…”
Hizashi’s wings trembled a little. “Didn’t come ‘cause you thought I’d be easy to fight if I argued?”
Shouta cocked his head in confusion. “You ever seen an omega protecting a nest before?” Hizashi shook his head and the alpha snorted. “When an omega has something to protect, they’re more fearsome than any alpha. Can tell how precious your land is by the smell. If I’d been in my right mind, I would’ve avoided it out of fear.”
Hizashi couldn’t help but laugh a little at the prospect of the large alpha being scared of him. “Well? Why’re you really heading north? You don’t wanna find an omega and raise a family?”
Shouta rolled his shoulders and stretched his torn wings. “Don’t wanna make that sorta decision while I’ve lost my mind to pheromones…”
“...You’re unusual for an alpha,” Hizashi said, but he paired the words with a smile. It was intended as a compliment.
“You’re unusual for an omega.” Shouta curled up beside the fire, his wings hovering close to the warmth. His eyes were barely open and exhaustion weighed heavily on his other limbs.
“You can stay for a few days,” Hizashi told him as he sat back down in his nest. “I won’t hurt you.” Shouta sleepily hummed. “You should be in your true form - you’ll heal faster!”
The alpha responded by shifting. He took up a good portion of the space around the fire, and the blond found himself staring at his face. He was more handsome than he’d first thought.
Hizashi had the sudden urge to clean up his nest. He knew it was nothing more than a natural nesting instinct that he would’ve typically ignored, but he decided to give it attention this time. His nest was messy! Shouta probably thought he was a slob!
He shifted back into his dragon form so he could better move the heavy treasures, but he also took a moment to appreciate the size of his ancestral nest. A few quick glances at the slumbering alpha told him they’d both be a perfect fit together if they cuddled up, and he almost had the urge to test the theory, but he quickly shot the thought down. THAT one was definitely a product of his instincts that he didn’t want to act on.
The coins were quick to move with his claws and jaws, and his pride in his ancestral nest only grew. Perhaps he could use the deer’s pelt to make the nest even more comfortable! He purred at the thought and carried on eagerly, excited to show the alpha his home. Perhaps he could show him the territory, and they could talk more about what Shouta had seen in his travels.
-x-
Hizashi had eventually fallen asleep after cleaning up his lair, but he was excited when he woke up. Surely Shouta had slept enough by now! He could show him all around the territory and could take him to the lake so they could fish together, and-
The golden dragon paused as he stared at the fire.
Shouta was gone.
Hizashi made an uncertain sound in the back of his throat as he went to investigate. Where had he gone? Was he hunting another deer for them?
He instinctively leaned his head down to the ground, to take in the alpha’s scent, and his feathers puffed out as it hit him. With the rain and blood and his weaker humanoid-nose, he hadn’t really noticed Shouta’s scent before, besides the fact he’d been an alpha, but now it filled his world with stars. Hizashi had never smelled anything so amazing, yet so familiar: Shouta had smelled amazing.
The urge to roll around in the scent hit him. He wanted to cover his feathers and scales in the alpha’s natural pheromones, but Hizashi managed to control himself enough to hurry for the exit. Where had Shouta gone?
As he exited his lair, he inhaled the air, yet the wind carried a thin veil of rain and any hope of detecting the smell. Hizashi parked himself at the entrance of his cave, just under the shelter, and glanced around nervously. Where had the dragon gone? He’d still been injured!
Hizashi watched the rain as it filled his territory with tiny temporary stars, but the magic of the view was lost in his concern.
He waited and waited for Shouta to return to the cozy cave…
But he didn’t come back.
-x-
A month had passed since he’d seen the alpha, and while he’d spent the time unhappily pining, now he had more pressing matters. His storage of food was restocked since he wouldn’t be able to venture away from his cave when his first heat of mating season struck and he didn’t have an alpha to hunt for him.
The borders of his territory had been heavily marked beforehand, and he’d been through enough solo mating seasons to know his scent would last until his hormones eased. The temptation to abandon his beloved home had been more powerful this year, and he’d heavily debated going north in search of Shouta, but he’d dismissed the thought.
The alpha had left without a word, and Hizashi didn’t want to forgive that.
Hizashi was wandering around his territory, ensuring his boundaries were properly scented, when the first wave hit him. It sent him to the ground, hissing and whining as pleasure and heat washed over his senses, temporarily blocking out his own thoughts.
Alpha, alpha, alpha, his instincts begged. If he only had an alpha there, he’d be able to ease these feelings before they grew worse. His claws dug into the dirt and grass. He held onto his land for dear life as the first wave gradually subsided.
It was dangerous to have the swings while he was out here: a violent wind was howling, and who knows how far his scent would travel…
Perhaps Shouta would smell it and return to him…?
He was genuinely dazed by the sudden thought. Shouta had been so nice, and had smelled so perfect. Even though their meeting had been so brief, the alpha was impossible to forget, and Hizashi felt like he’d lost so much more than a conversation companion.
Maybe life wouldn’t be so bad if he got to share his territory with Shouta Aizawa…
Hizashi tried to head for his cave, but every few steps was met with another wave, always more intense than the last. He whined and collapsed every time, and eventually he was forced into his human form. It would take him more time to reach his cave, but the heat would be less intense like this, and maybe his scent wouldn’t be as noticeable.
His instincts quickly screamed at him, but for completely different reasons: an intruder had entered his territory.
Hizashi’s heart soared at the prospect of Shouta returning. Had he come back for him?
He caught onto the sound of approaching steps, but the wind carried the scent away from him, so he couldn’t catch the rich smell. However, when the alpha finally entered his vision, his hope instantly died.
It was an alpha, but it wasn’t Shouta.
This dragon was smaller, with sharp orange feathers on its neck and yellow feathers on its wings. Its claws were impressive, and the creature’s brow-ridges masked its eyes, although Hizashi could feel their intensity.
Part of him was relieved at the sight of the strange alpha: finally his torment would end. However, that was simply his hated instincts telling him what he should want. Hizashi refused to transform, lest he lose himself completely to that voice, but the dragon made no move to shift into a more humanoid form as it approached.
“N-No,” Hizashi moaned out and tried to crawl away from the beast, but he was stopped as a paw pressed down on one wing. He whined at the pain, but another moan sounded from his mouth as a large tongue ran over his side. He must’ve tasted delicious, for the alpha continued to lick at him and pin down his wing, and yet they both refused to shift forms. Would the alpha dragon simply take him like this?
He didn’t want this alpha! He didn’t want this alpha’s offspring! He didn’t want to share his territory - his life - with him!
Hizashi wanted-
“Sh-Shouta~!” he yelled, causing the senseless alpha to hesitate.
A roar resonated through the trees. Darkness blurred the sky for a moment as a large shape moved over him, and then the weight on his wing was released. The feathered alpha was hurled against a tree. Splintered wood flew through the air, and Hizashi managed to move to his knees so he could see what had happened.
A black shape stood with his back to him, standing protectively over Hizashi while they faced down the smaller alpha. Tears pricked Hizashi’s eyes as he instantly recognised the dragon, thanks to his ripped up wings and his shaggy black hair.
Shouta was back!
A low rumble filled the air as the larger alpha warned the intruder that he was willing to fight for the omega, but the enemy didn’t back down. Another wave of heat hit Hizashi’s body, and the scent of his pheromones drove the alphas to suddenly clash. Teeth flashed in the sunlight as Shouta lunged, and claws tore at his chest. Hizashi was too distracted by the burning sensation through his body to pay much attention to the fight, although he desperately hoped for Shouta’s victory.
He pressed his face to the ground and whimpered, trying to think past the fog in his head, but it was useless. The sound of fighting disappeared too suddenly. The silence was filled only with the howl of wind, and was then ended by the thump of heavy feet fleeing.
Was it Shouta? Had he lost? Would Hizashi have to spend the rest of his life with the other alpha, and-
Hizashi was abruptly lifted into human arms, and he came face to face with dark eyes. Shouta was breathing heavily, as if he’d ran all the way there, and there were claw marks on his chest, but his attention was focused solely on Hizashi. “Mine,” he growled out, fangs shining in the sunlight. His eyes flashed red for a moment, but disappeared just as quickly. He was clearly fighting his own alpha instincts.
Tears ran down Hizashi’s burning cheeks, and he clung desperately to the shifted dragon. “Shouta,” he whispered. “You came back…?”
The alpha was carrying him somewhere, but Hizashi couldn’t focus on anything more as another wave of heat hit him. Possessive growling filled the air. Shouta looked pained, but his self control was something to marvel. Hizashi buried his face into the mane of dark hair and breathed in the scent he’d yearned to taste for a long month now. He smelled amazing.
“Wanted to stay,” Shouta managed to say through gritted teeth, “but was scared.”
“Of me?”
The alpha exhaled as he shuddered, and Hizashi finally realised where he was being taken: Shouta was taking Hizashi to the lair. Yes! His nest! It would soon be their nest! They would fit together there so perfectly!
“Instincts,” Shouta claimed. “Didn’t think I’d be able to resist you… Didn’t wanna force anything on you…”
Hizashi shivered. “Shouta…”
“Another reason I entered your territory… The smell…”
“The smell?”
Shouta nodded and inhaled. Luckily they’d crossed the threshold of his lair and his nest was just ahead, lit by Hizashi’s golden flames. “Your territory’s smell… Your smell…” He clenched his teeth, but his self control was waning. “You smell like home.”
His heart raced at the prospect. Perhaps they weren’t simply an alpha and an omega… Perhaps they were a…
“Fated pair,” Hizashi whispered, just as another thrum coursed through him. He moaned and rubbed his body against Shouta in an effort to mark him with his scent and to feel some satisfaction. His body was already painfully hard, and he could feel juice leaking from his entrance, craving for something to fill him.
Shouta growled animalistically. Whether it was at the blond’s words or actions was unknown, but it didn’t really matter: they finally crossed the lip of the nest.
Hizashi was pressed into warm animal furs, and the large alpha instantly lunged for his neck. Teeth sunk into his skin and a wave of pleasure rocked through him at the prospect of belonging to this dragon. Of course they wouldn’t be bonded until they’d completely mated, but that wouldn’t be too far away.
The teeth pulled from his skin and Shouta exhaled heavily. “Sorry,” he murmured and his tongue ran over the bite marks, soothing the wound. “Will try to be gentle…”
Hizashi shivered and opened his arms for Shouta. “Kiss me~” The alpha couldn’t resist the request. Their lips met sloppily and their tongues were quick to explore. Hizashi wrapped his arms and wings around his alpha and mewled into the kiss, just as more heat burned through him.
Something large rubbed against his length, but he was too distracted by the kissing to figure out what it was. Heat was rushing through him, making their skin slick with sweat, and the scent of their combined pheromones was delicious. He wanted to bathe his entire territory in their scent so other dragons would know how perfect they were.
Shouta pulled their mouths apart so he could choppily say, “Tell me you want this… You - not your hormones…” His eyes kept flicking between black and red as he fought to retain complete control. “If you don’t want it, will stop… Will keep other alphas away if you want me to… Promise… Don’t think I’ll be able to stop if we go further… Know I’m not that … desirable…”
His heart swelled and ached at the same time. Hizashi wrapped his beautiful wings even more tightly around Shouta and his hands moved to his face. “Mine~” he managed to say as lucidly as possible. “All mine~ Want so badly~ Handsome and sweet~” Hizashi moved his hands to Shouta’s large rounded horns and he pulled him down roughly so their foreheads touched. His own eyes burned for a possessive moment and he saw them reflected in Shouta’s. In that moment, both their eyes were red with desire. “We smell perfect together…”
That was all the encouragement Shouta needed. His tongue instantly slid into Hizashi’s mouth and he moaned as he met it, bucking his hips desperately. There was so much lubricant running from his entrance that it rolled down his tail, and he finally had some idea about what was rubbing against his length - even in his human form, Shouta was inhumanly big.
Shouta’s mouth pulled away from his so he could pay attention to the small pert nipples across his torso. He had a total of six pink buds for the alpha to nip and suck at, or to pinch between his fingers. In fact, while Shouta sucked on one, his hands squeezed two others, and his tail even slid upwards to rub against a fourth. It was torturous and oh so delicious.
“Shouta~” he moaned happily, the nipples extra sensitive thanks to the heat. Shouta’s tail slid down between them. The sensation earned another gasp from Hizashi as the scales brushed past their lengths, and then circled his dripping entrance.
The tapered tip started to part him, and there was zero pain with the action. He mewled in pleasure as his mind fogged over with lust and pheromones. Hizashi was strong and virile: he’d give Shouta strong young for them to raise together.
The tail slid deeper and deeper inside him, growing wider and wider as he took more in. Scales ran over the slippery walls, and he cried out whenever the tip twitched deep inside. Of course the size didn’t compare to Shouta’s length, but it was a tasty hors d’oeuvre before the main course.
Shouta’s attention moved away from his nipples, and Hizashi was disappointed until claws bit into his thighs. He whined as the tail continued to move inside of him, now more teasing, while the alpha’s tongue lapped hungrily over his thighs. “Smells good~” Shouta growled and moved even lower as he slid the tail completely out. Hizashi gasped at the sudden emptiness, but his gasp turned into a wail of pleasure as Shouta’s tongue immediately replaced it.
It didn’t delve as deep inside him as the tail, but he licked over his inner walls and tasted his juices. Surely Hizashi was a desirable mate with the sheer amount of lubricant his body produced! Damn his hormones: Shouta wasn’t going to change his mind, so why was he still trying to sell himself?
Really it was the only thing he could do though, for he was too distracted by the pleasure to do anything else, especially when…
The tongue inside him grew larger. He clawed at his nest and cried out in bliss, while larger jaws held him in place. Shouta had shifted into his dragon form. The large tongue reached deep inside him, and was thicker around the base. Hot breath puffed over his body and his own dick, and large teeth scraped over his skin - including his nipples. If he hadn’t been so high on hormones and pleasure, he might’ve been scared of being eaten.
He caught a glimpse of Shouta’s dragon length, swelled and twitching and even larger than his human counterpart. Hizashi imagined taking that inside him and the thought alone was enough to make him finish with a scream. His body squeezed around Shouta’s large tongue and he instinctively grabbed the alpha’s snout as the waves echoed through him.
Mating Season was going to become his favourite season.
Shouta pulled away gently, and Hizashi whined at the loss. Although he was oversensitive, his heat was kicking in already, forcing his body to be good for another round as soon as possible. There was a sound of shuffling and Shouta was back over him in his human form, face red.
“Sorry,” Shouta murmured as he rubbed their chests together, clearly trying to rub the scent of Hizashi’s semen into his fur. “Lost control…”
The blond laughed breathlessly. “Felt amazing~” A hand ran over his entrance, clearly collecting a palmful of lubricant that was quickly smeared over Hizashi’s thighs. It took him a moment to realise what Shouta was doing.
Shouta pressed Hizashi’s thighs together and slid his dick between them. It was so huge and so hot. “Close~” Growled the alpha as he thrust his hips forward and back. “Scent~” Hizashi helped by squeezing his thighs and rocking his own hips to match the action.
It didn’t take long for Shouta to finish, dumping his first load over Hizashi’s chest. There was so much of it and it was so hot. If that much was released inside him, he’d fall pregnant so easily. The musky alpha scent was powerful, and the blond wanted to roll in it until it was all he could smell. He didn’t have the chance to, however, for Shouta already started rubbing their bodies together so they could both bathe in the combined scent.
“Mine~” Shouta growled possessively, and Hizashi was suddenly flipped over so the alpha could smear the scent all over his back. His wings weakly protested the shift in position, but were instantly soothed as Shouta rested his torn wings a top Hizashi’s feathers. “Smells… so good.”
It was true: Hizashi had never smelled anything quite like them before. Maybe they really were a fated pair… He’d thought those were myths.
“Shouta~” Hizashi purred, tongue lolling from his mouth. He looked over his shoulder at the alpha’s face.
His eyes were red, but slowly stuttered into black voids once more. “Feeling… okay?” Shouta managed to say with as little growl as possible.
Hizashi laughed. “Feeling so okay~” He leaned up a little and pressed back against Shouta’s chest. “Feels amazing with you~”
The alpha exhaled and nodded, kissing the side of his face tenderly. Something heavy rubbed against Hizashi’s tail, and the prospect that Shouta was already hard again made him shiver. The alpha rubbed against him to grow harder, but another wave of self-control must’ve entered Shouta’s rutt. “Babies… Really want?”
Hizashi shuddered. His body instantly screamed at him in agreement - as an omega, it was what he was meant to do. However, he managed to turn around slightly again so he could grin up at Shouta. “If I get to have ‘em with you…”
The alpha noticeably shuddered. He leaned down and captured Hizashi’s lips in a kiss, while the blond was eager to return it. However, he was more eager about the press of something hot and thick against his prepared entrance. A low rumble from Shouta told him he was ready to continue, and Hizashi made his own stance clear by pressing back against the length so the very tip of it entered him.
It felt better than the tongue and tail combined. Their lips parted so they could both make animalistic whines, and Hizashi’s hand squeezed at the furs beneath him. The head of the length slid completely inside and Shouta possessively growled. Hizashi’s wings fluttered, kicking up some twigs around his nest, but the alpha’s wings helped them settle once more.
His body didn’t resist the alpha at all. The sound of Shouta moving deeper and deeper inside of him echoed around the cave, wet and squelching with the excess slick. Everytime Hizashi thought he’d taken it all in, there was another inch, and by the time he was fully sheathed, his tongue was hanging out in bliss. “So… big ~”
He could feel it pressing against his inner walls, and when he glanced down, he even noticed his stomach was slightly bulging. Hizashi was blissed out by the knowledge of just how big his mate was. He’d made an excellent choice.
Of course Shouta wasn’t completely in. Hizashi could feel the knot press against his entrance, but that would come later. The alpha stilled and nipped at his neck. His breath was so hot and Hizashi whined, trying to rock his hips to get some movement, but Shouta held him tight so he couldn’t move. “Wait,” he growled out, licking at his neck. “Get used to size…”
Hizashi was already leaking precum, and he could feel the heavy thickness twitching inside him. “Please,” he begged. “So ready~”
Shouta grunted and gnawed at Hizashi’s ear. One of his hands slid down to Hizashi’s belly and cupped the place where his stomach bulged, earning a shuddering wail from the omega. “Mine~” the alpha growled again, and then started to move. The thrusts were short and slow at first, and Hizashi moved his hand over Shouta’s so he could feel the tip of the length as it pushed against his stomach. Thankfully the human body was still far sturdier than a regular human’s for he didn’t feel any pain whatsoever as Shouta stirred up his insides.
“Shouta~” Hizashi rocked his body back against the alpha, already on the edge of finishing for a second time. The length kept rubbing something deep inside of him, and the feeling grew more and more sensitive with every thrust. His own dick rubbed against the nest, creating a sweet sense of friction that made him see stars. “More~”
Shouta’s thrusts grew longer and harder, until every slam drove Hizashi’s body forward. Slick ran down his thighs, creating hot lines, but he wanted some other hot substance leaking from his insides…
Another hand shifted beneath his chest and started to pinch at his nipples, while the hand on his stomach squeezed and massaged the flesh there. Although no hands were on his length, it didn’t take much for Hizashi to cum again. It would be a pain to wash the hot strings from his feathers, but so worth it.
Shouta fucked him through the waves of bliss, but his tightening walls weren’t enough to make the alpha finish just yet. Overstimulation throbbed through his body, but it wasn’t painful: Hizashi was in heaven.
Shouta’s thrusts were now relentless, and the scent of their sweat made Hizashi drool. He wasn’t too sure what was more appealing: him being covered in Shouta’s smell, or Shouta being covered in his. In a way, he had marked the alpha as part of his territory.
The knot rubbed against his entrance, and it was clear that Shouta was nearing his own release, for it started to push inside. Hizashi braced his body against his nest and cried out in pleasure as the knot finally parted him and made a sound that was a mix of a squelch and a pop. The bulge of his stomach was prominent now, and Shouta’s fingers squeezed around it and rubbed it with his palm. There was no chance of parting now: they would be tied together until Shouta’s knot eased and - judging by the swell - that wouldn’t be for a while.
The alpha thrust a few more times, short, quick jolts, and then growled in his ear as he finally finished. Burning heat flooded Hizashi’s insides, even more than what had been squirted over him earlier. It gushed out of the alpha’s length and filled him, unable to escape thanks to the swollen knot. His stomach bulged more, inflating from the amount of cum being released inside him, but he wasn’t prepared for what came next.
Just as with the rim job earlier, Shouta lost control of his shift. The knot and shaft inside him grew exponentially larger, and Hizashi screamed as the sheer sensation of the stretch made him cum again. His humanoid body was now cupped in the dragon’s palm, and the dick and knot inside him was so huge that if he’d been an actual human it probably would’ve killed him.
But he wasn’t a human.
His body adjusted around the enormous size and Shouta stopped moving altogether, probably in an effort not to hurt him. The cum didn’t stop though. His belly continued to inflate with the sheer amount of it, and he smiled dizzily at the sight. Surely he’d breed so easily with all this hot juice inside him.
However, his humanoid body was reaching its limit, and the seed didn’t seem to be stopping. He had no choice but to also shift into his dragon form, or else he really would get injured. The shift wasn’t as easy as usual, but he managed to force it, and although the stretch eased, the sudden sensitivity to his heat hormones made every sensation intensify. He might’ve cum again from that alone, if he hadn’t already finished so recently.
“Hizashi~” whispered a voice in his mind, and it was comforting to hear it. They’d officially mated.
“Shouta~” He bucked his hips back, but the knot hadn’t lessened at all. “There’s so much~”
The alpha preened his golden feathers with his mouth, even as he continued to pump him full of heat. “Sorry for shifting… You’re amazing.”
Hizashi purred, proud of the fact he could make his mate lose control. “Felt good. You feel so good~”
The dragon shuddered against him and lapped at his neck. Finally the torrent stopped, and his belly stopped expanding, but the knot still needed time to shrink before he could safely remove it. At least his hormones had eased, if only temporarily. Shouta was affectionate as they waited, cleaning up his feathers and complimenting him and nuzzling him, and Hizashi felt loved.
Finally, the alpha must’ve deemed them both ready as he began to pull out. The knot slipped out with a satisfied pop, and the feeling of the large dick and the flood of semen rushing out of him was enough stimulation to make Hizashi cum for a fourth time. He whined and collapsed, sending another fountain from his entrance as pressure was placed on his belly. His long tongue lolled out and more stars twinkled in his eyes.
Shouta licked at his face tenderly. “Did amazing. Feeling okay?”
The omega dragon nodded. Exhaustion swept over him momentarily, but he knew it wouldn’t last for long. As soon as their hormones kicked back in, they would be at it again. Even if that first round hadn’t done the job of breeding him, they had plenty more chances before Mating Season ended.
“Feeling amazing,” Hizashi thought back and found the strength to nuzzle his mate. “Glad you came back.”
Shouta nodded and continued to clean him, although there wasn’t much point since they’d be dirty again soon. “Glad I came back too. This is … where we’re meant to be…”
Hizashi nodded and smiled, taking the moment to snuggle contentedly with his new mate. Shouta was right: this was where they were meant to be. His territory would be safe and they could live there and raise a family together. Hizashi would have company and Shouta would have a home.
Although they’d only just met, love had already budded between them, and there was not a single doubt in Hizashi’s mind that it would blossom into a beautiful future. He didn’t mind being an omega if he could spend his life with an amazing alpha like Shouta Aizawa.
They curled up in the nest for a time, but it didn’t take long for Hizashi’s heat to kick back in. He rubbed against the large dragon and eagerly purred, earning a toothy grin from the alpha. “That was quick.”
Hizashi snorted and mirrored the grin with his own sly smile. “Guess it just comes with the territory.”
The End
