Shawn peers into his pupils. Swimming with pain, they engulf the whole of Lassie’s glass-blue irises, meaning Shawn can’t make a joke about him needing brown contact lenses, meaning he also doesn’t need to drive good ol’ Lassie to the hospital and risk having his hand bitten off.
He can’t walk, though. He’s not that much of an idiot. And neither is Lassie, not usually.
