That night, he thought the hardest thing he’d ever do was walk away drunk from that party, without her, without even getting an answer to his question (“Tell your prince where your heart truly lies. Tell me”). Forgiving himself for hitting that window still isn’t in the cards, and he is sort of glad about it. What would it say about him if it was? So that’s not the hardest thing, because he never did it.
It would get easier. It just had to.
But then she came to him and worse, Dorota came to him asking both the effortless and the impossible. Never would he have thought that he would need someone to tell him to kiss her. Even less, he thought it possible it might pain him to oblige. He even tried to get out last minute, distrusting himself more than ever; but she stopped him (of course, she always does). Giving in – pretending to give in was the hardest thing he ever did. To kiss her and not fall into it – who could?

When I read Redemption Road I thought I had finally understood why people can appreciate fanfiction the way they do.
Then some asshole posted a DtA continuation and I was a dumb shit who thought "hmmmmm I wonder what that abbreviation could mean?"
A long story and a short Google search later I am stuck with the agonizing joy of reading this piece of art and I hate the world both for having brought this (unfinished) masterpiece into my life as well as not having read it earlier.
