Summary
Their weekly meet-up for Wicked Grace is the first time Hawke has seen Anders since he confronted him about his "potion". When Anders admits to having a bad headache, Hawke assumes the role of healer, ushering him to a vacant room where he can take care of the other mage. Still feeling hurt over the things Anders said to him, but even more hurt by the fact that it seems like his partner doesn't think he can trust him, he uses the opportunity to try and bridge the gap forming between them before it gets any worse.

The emotional aspect that sex has for him can be too much at times, but he fears that Anders will not understand, so he devises a plan to show his partner just how loved and wanted he really is.

Summary
Hawke is good at many things, but despite having a naturally stronger connection with the Fade and its spirits, lack of practice makes his healing amateur at best. When a gang leader's creative weaponry leaves him with an injury that he can't heal, his friends drag him (lovingly) to Anders' clinic for treatment. As usual, it's not as bad as he fears it will be. It helps that it's Anders taking care of him, of course.
Or: 6000+ words of the author reminding you that Anders is a doctor, and pulling descriptions of fantasy medical treatment out of their ass.
Edit 12/29/2025: I was not aware that Malcolm Hawke had an actual canon death date, so the part that mentions his passing has been altered to line up more accurately with canon.
