    It was to be expected at his age. Joseph Joestar had lived a long and impressive life. He felt accomplished in the things he had done- some of which would never see the light of day. His defeat of the pillarmen, DIO, and coming back to life after his soul had even left his body. Overall, he felt complete.
    It was when he had come back to life, the trouble had started. DIO's vampiric, powerful blood had re-filled his veins and his heart was restarted by his grandson's stand.

    Months after Suzie Q's death, Joseph Joestar had died.

    It was only then after the Hamon left his body, did the vampiric blood begin to work. With nothing to fight it, the body of Joseph Joestar began to rapidly change. The vampiric blood mutated him, starting from the inside and slowly, but surely working it’s way to his flesh.
    The memory imprinted in the DNA was a blend of DIO, Jonathan, and the Joseph from his adventures in Egypt with his grandson, and friends.
    Easily enough, the DNA of the young Jonathan was easily accepted into Joseph’s body. His skin softened, tightening and becoming ashy. His undead heart began to beat.

    That is the question, isn’t it?

    But he doesn't know. Peter doesn't know much of anything going on, these days. All he knows for sure is that he must not fall asleep. Or else it'll happen again. And again. And again. And if he's not careful, he won't be waking up to an animal in front of him. Next time, it might be something else. Something with hands that curl and a mouth that speaks.

    It won't happen though. Peter won't let that happen.

    Don't look at it.

    Don't touch it.

    Don't think about the peak of its snout, the coarse white-grey fur interrupted only by wide gashes of flesh and the sickly jut of broken bone.

    The angles are all wrong. So wrong. Ninety degrees where it should be a smooth curve, more organic. Not…this.

    Peter comes home from his jungle adventure exhausted, but he doesn't remember much of his time in the jungle. He doesn't know why Wolverine seems to have a newfound respect for him either. And he certainly has no idea where that voice is coming from.

    Originally posted on ff.net two years ago, I was finally ambitious enough to cross-post it here. It is primarily an Ultimate Spider-Man story, but I've added elements of the movies too. MCU sprinkles as I like to call them.
