    “Alright, the shirt is going to have to come off,” Shane says, sliding back. “I can cut it off you or you can take it off yourself.” 

    After a lengthy pause in which Shane is unprofessionally lost in those glittering eyes, the firefighter grabs the hem of his shirt and begins to lift. He stops almost instantly with his elbows crossed over his face and his chiseled abdomen right there for Shane to gawp at, holy shit. 

    The pained noise the man makes jars Shane back into motion. “Right, okay. My turn,” he mumbles, smoothing the fireman’s hands back onto his lap.

    “Did we win the game? Why is Il— Rozanov here?” Shane croaks, confusion written plainly on his face. One of his arms is in a sling. He shifts and winces, his good hand hovering idly over his stomach, then pressing into his eyes. He’s aching all over, this sudden feeling of wrong, wrong, wrong engulfing his entire body.

    “What happened?” he asks, more alert now, “Where am I?”

    Hayden just looks at him, shock and heartbreak written all over his face.

    Or, post-marleau’s hit, shane ends up in the hospital. he ends up with a broken collarbone, concussion and a devastating loss he’d never anticipated.

And okay, fine, maybe there had been a time in his life where he watched every single Raiders game with a hyperfocus on a certain player, and then secretly ventured onto his Tumblr feed after to watch and rewatch his favorite gifs from the game.

    Or, Luca Haas is finally settling into who he is as a hockey player and a person. And then a certain rival of his comes bulldozing his way into his life.
