Robin looked down at the image again. “You mean the light thing they do every year on New Year’s Eve?” she deadpanned. The girl nodded. “And you’re definitely not a spy?” Another nod. “What’s in it for me?”
The girl blinked, as though the question was foreign to her. Was Robin actually accidentally speaking a foreign language again? She did that sometimes, and everyone she knew hated it. Maybe this girl was just completely clueless.
“Look, here’s the thing,” Robin started, settling down on a log. “The kingdom and I are not exactly…well, let’s just say I’m not being invited to any balls anytime soon. So I can’t exactly waltz over there and put myself at risk without having something in return. That make sense to you, sunshine?”
