Summary
With the rising popularity of this "Genius Invokation TCG" (I assume you must be familiar with it) within and outside of Snezhnaya, coupled with its practice of utilizing well-known figures across Teyvat as "character cards", the Fatui could serve to capitalize on it. Hence: a limited edition Fatui Harbingers deck. What do you think?
Should you have any suggestions regarding the deck, send them along with your next letter. Note that we have no control over the mechanics assigned to each card itself, nor the skills attributed to it. Any problems regarding that front should be addressed to the department of the Sumeru Akademiya responsible for "Genius Invokation TCG", whose address I have—

(Or: Childe takes an urgent business trip to Sumeru to prevent the premature downfall of his career as a toy salesman (and the rise of his career as a Harbinger) in the eyes of his siblings. Zhongli decides to join.)

“This really isn’t the type of place I’d see you frequenting,” he says, helping Zhongli onto the deck, catching him by the waist as the boat rocks to the rhythm of the waves.
“Truly?” Zhongli asks, smoothing out his lapels, the coat draped along his shoulders, jostled by the climb up. “Are there no such similar establishments in Snezhnaya?”
With such scant distance between them, Zhongli can see clearly how he bites back a smile. Gravely, he says — “Zhongli-xiansheng. I would never be unfaithful to you with another scholar.”
“Beloved,” Zhongli says, equally grim, “let not your fidelity to me deprive you of knowledge. It would pain my heart far more.”
(or: Zhongli and Childe spend a night out on the Pearl Galley.)

“It cannot be easy to turn a blade on a friend.”
“Not if they turn it on you first!” The retort, though immediate, is followed by a considering pause, ostensibly to polish off the remaining Mora meat. “...then again, I don’t have any experience in such matters. I’d turn it on xiansheng, if it meant you’d finally use that Vision of yours!”
“To strike fatally?”
“Goodness,” Childe says, the innocence in his expression so sweet Zhongli thinks he will feel it in his teeth for days, “Just what sort of man do you take me for?”
The same as me, Zhongli is saved from confessing by the storm breaking.
(or: an untimely storm raging through the Harbor results in Childe staying the night at Zhongli's.)

Summary
Zhongli, Childe notes as the door opens, seems to have gotten shorter. Shorter, that is to say, than the half-an-inch that Childe boasts over him every other day.
This, further, is probably because of the three separate blankets wrapped around Zhongli that he is hunching under the weight of (what the fuck). Most of his hair (untied) (what the fuck) is caught between its layers and folds, except a few stray strands brushing just past his chest. Childe is overcome with a sudden compulsion to tuck them behind his ear (what the fuck).
Zhongli blinks rapidly, hazed-over gaze settling beyond Childe before it does on him. "Ah," he says, voice raspy, "Childe."
Promptly after, the skin around his eyes begins to sharpen into golden-brown scales.
(or: after Everything, Childe decides to pay a visit to Zhongli to make amends and/or fight him. As is becoming a pattern with them, things don't go as expected.)

Summary
“You see, I’m new in town. And I heard here and there that you were the person to come to for a tour.”
From this close, Zhongli can smell the seaspray clinging to his clothes, spot the faint flush of the sun sitting high on his cheeks. It really must not have been long since he stepped off the deck of a boat: did he only arrive this morning? What is he doing in Wangsheng Funeral Parlour then, of all places?
“… A tour.”
“Of Liyue,” explains Childe, as though that had been what Zhongli was asking for clarification about. “Word on the street is that your knowledge of it is like no other. Naturally, I had to come straight to make a booking with such a renowned guide!”
Childe and Zhongli's intertwining deceptions, reimagined with some extra entanglements: confusing friendship, 'casual' sex, and, inconveniently, the foresight of love.

genuinely my favorite depiction of zc i've ever read, including Wretched Evil Mind Games and Wretched Evil Foreplay. i'm so glad this was one of the first fics i read when i got into genshin!!! thank you so much for writing this author starconch :)

Zhongli looked up from the scroll on his desk, and for a moment reality threatened at the edges of Childe’s consciousness; the dissociative fog wavered. Then Zhongli smiled, the same slight and soft and ancient expression he always wore.
“Childe. Come in.”
For a few more moments, then, Childe thought, and as if it were any other day shut the door with a quiet click. He won’t butcher this, not yet. He’ll let it ease away like dying breath, instead.the immediate aftermath of Chapter 1: Liyue
