"I just didn't like losing," Jeongguk says. "I still don't."

"I can't say I'm too fond of it either," Taehyung responds. He's looking directly into Jeongguk's eyes. "Still, I realized that if I were to lose to you, I wouldn't mind that much."

Jeongguk wants to blame the alcohol coursing through his veins for his ringing ears and rapidly beating heart, not Taehyung, but he's aware that it's too late to deny some things.

It’s a silly party game: find your card match, kiss a stranger, and enjoy a free shot.

Jeongguk finds his match, but the problem is that Kim Taehyung is not a stranger. He is, in fact, the complete opposite of a stranger.

He represents ten months of Jeongguk’s life, a drawer still half-full of things Jeongguk never returned or even looked at, and somehow he remains the first person Jeongguk searches for in a room.

They’ve always had this understanding: Jeongguk carries his camera everywhere, and Jimin lets him capture him. Jeongguk just wishes he could capture his heart, too.

Or, Jeongguk and Jimin are back in Japan, where they always end up getting conflicted over their feelings.

    Summary

In the courtroom, Park Jimin defends the little guy. He's regularly toe to toe with juggernaut entertainment companies and conglomerates and public figures, defending victims who he's sure have been wronged.

Then a letter arrives addressed to him at his office.

It's written in pencil on prison stationery. The tone of the letter is jaded with a misplaced touch of hope. And it's signed by prisoner #1310 - Jeon Jeongguk, the former pride of South Korea, a superstar idol who was convicted of an open-and-shut case of triple homicide.

And he wants to meet Jimin to discuss his case.

    Summary

Park Jimin prides himself on resilience. He has been raised to withstand pressure, scrutiny, and provocation. He's stood before high-level committees, academic boards and competitive interviewers. His professors commend his poise while his peers envy it. He’s academically untouchable.

At least, he was until Jeon Jungkook began violating his personal space like it’s a type of sport.

It’s not as though Jimin doesn’t have the capacity to handle someone like him—arrogant, undisciplined, attention-seeking, textbook pathology. Jimin has encountered dozens of Jungkooks in debate clubs and disciplinary hearings. The difference is that those other boys didn’t speak to him in that tone.
