Summary
So he liked rainy days. Days like this one, standing in the bus shelter, watching the rain pour down and make a river of the street, waiting for the bus that would take him and Beard to a museum they’d been meaning to check out for ages, thinking about the rainy day he’d found Nate standing alone in the rain without an umbrella and decidedly not thinking about the last time he had seen him. Ted’s not a worrier.

Ted thinks about a rainy day, and he doesn't worry about anything at all. -

Summary
Charles has been standing outside the office for approximately five, maybe ten, minutes with his ear pressed to the door, listening. Listening to the shuffle of footsteps, the knocking and turning over of the trinkets that covered the office, trying to formulate some sort of a plan in his head.
-
Returning to the office one day, Charles encounters what he thinks is an intruder. He ends up with much more on his plate then he expected. Meanwhile, Edwin Paine has been having a very stressful day. -

Summary
Through the window, the sky has never seemed so unreachable, so wide and unending as he blinks up at it with glossy eyes. In the depths, a star blinks back at him. He recognizes it as Arcturus and isn’t sure what to do with the unsettled feeling it stirs in his chest.

Monty, freshly human, doing totally fine. Really. He's just so super excited about all this. -

Fics documenting S.Q. handling the aftermath of the book series and Mr. Curtain's treatment of him. Don't have to be read in order but the fics are all connected to each other so it does help things make a little more sense.

Summary
"I have an old friend," Mr. Benedict says. His eyes are kind and his hands are open. Some people might easily confuse him for his brother, but S.Q. has never made the mistake once. "He maintains a farm, a few hours away by train. His name is John Cole, and he's agreed to let you stay with him, if you'd like. How does that sound to you?"
It is another one of their little talks, the ones that leave S.Q. with creaks in his spine from the tense way he holds his shoulders. Always, always, S.Q. remembers the island and the cave, so he considers each question with no small amount of care, poking at it for trickery and subterfuge. He considers his answers with an even greater amount of caution, like they are a stack of porcelain plates that he has to carry from hall to hall.
S.Q. wants to say no, is the truth of it. His place is by Curtain's side. He had said they could do it together, and he had meant it.
Another truth: S.Q. is very good at being prompted by pointed questions, especially by men with a shock of white hair and green plaid suits. S.Q. wrings his clumsy fingers and says, "Alright, Mr. Benedict."

Summary
“Thanks,” Charles said, quietly.
“It’s just a shirt,” Edwin muttered, though it wasn’t really what he meant.
He ducked his head, suddenly unable to stand the sight at all: Charles, with exhaustion written into the cut-glass lines of his features and pain in the stiffness of his back and still he managed to look at Edwin with gratitude for handing over a fucking t-shirt.
Something was burning inside him, deep in the recesses of his chest, something protective and furious, that made him want to wrap Charles up in his arms - and in a t-shirt and his maroon jacket with the red plaid lining and his new black coat with its steadily-growing collection of lapel pins and maybe a blanket on top of that, and bundle him away somewhere that he would never be cold or hurt again. Somewhere Charles could be safe; maybe somewhere they both could.
-devastating domestic au strikes again: the boys are alive together late 90s/early 2000s, they talk in circles around trauma, go to a party, fight off the horrors to protect each other, and Edwin comes up with the plan
