    Taylor swiped a finger over the wound, then brought it up to his lips. Alex watched with rapt attention as Taylor licked the blood—Alex’s blood—off the tip of his finger.

    “What the fuck?” Alex whispered.

    Taylor had the gall to look guilty, looking at Alex through his eyelashes. He licked his lips afterward. Alex's grip on Taylor's wrist went slack.

    “Sorry.”

    “No, Taylor, what the fuck?” Alex insisted, then scooted a bit back on the bed. He could feel blood dripping down his ear. More pointedly, he could feel Taylor's eyes fixate on it.

    And Taylor was fucking salivating.

    “Alex,” Taylor said. His voice sounded soft, sounded careful, but mostly just restrained. His lips parted just enough for Alex to catch a glimpse of Taylor's teeth—or fangs.
