Summary
A century ago, the oceans started rising and didn’t stop. Slowly the land has been swallowed by the waves. Now, only a few bastions of civilization remain. “What’s going on?” Maria asked.
“I don’t know,” Shadow replied, getting off the bed and walking to the door. After hesitating, Shadow opened the door and followed the sounds down the hallway to the main entrance.
There were bolts of blue lighting dancing across the room, and guards went down left and right by something too fast for anyone to see. The guards fired into the room, panicked, but the blue blur of lighting was relentless and soon no one was left standing.
Shadow stood at the edge of the room, eyes and mouth agape as the blue blur finally stood still, standing over the unconscious guards. It was a hedgehog! It looked like–
“Shadow,” Maria breathed out, appearing beside Shadow. “He looks just like you.”
