Lance closes the short distance between them, lets out a contented sigh as he meets the soft skin of Keith’s lips. Keith slides his hand to cradle the back of Lance’s neck, tilts his head back just enough to deepen the kiss, to slide his tongue into Lance’s waiting mouth. “Hey,” Lance breathes, sounding close enough that he could only be crouched at the side of the bed, right behind Keith. “I’m sorry. I didn’t realize you weren’t having a good day. I’ve been out in the garden, and I just—well, I got lost in it, but I’m gonna make up for it now.”
“S’okay,” Keith assures him, voice rougher than it had been for what little use he’d gotten out of it this morning.
It’s not Lance’s job to read Keith’s mind, realize he’s in a little more pain than the usual. Taking inventory now… perhaps Keith should have said something earlier. Tried to get up long enough to find Lance. Sent him a text, maybe.
