Summary
Just as she’s turning away he stops her with a light tug at the straps of her backpack. “Come to a game.”
Victoria doesn’t think he’s ever been told no, she thinks he’s probably never had to ask twice for something. “I’ll think about it,” she replies, trying to keep her voice as calm as she can. She thinks she succeeds as he gives her one last smile before he turns back to his studying.

Summary
“I like science. More bio than anything, but chem can be cool, too.”
Frank’s eyes brightened, and his whole body turned towards her. “Shit, me too! I’m starting to look into options for undergrad, and I’m definitely thinking pre-med. Are you?”
It baffled her how he could sit there in a room that wasn't his, covered in evidence that the world was not kind, and still think about the future. For her, the future had slipped out of her grasp the night she and Becca had shown up here.
Or: Mel and Frank meet fifteen years before the Pitt, in a group home, during the worst year of both their lives. This is proof that they fall in love in every timeline.

Summary
She’s nestled in the corner of the cafe, one hand propped against her cheek and the other holding a book. He can’t quite read the title from here, but the cover is hot pink. There’s a sheet of golden hair obscuring half her face, but he’d know the shape of her anywhere. Her glasses are slipping down the bridge of her nose, and he watches as she uses one finger to push them back up.
Dr. Melissa King.
Stupidly, cowardly, Frank’s first instinct is to run away. To leave this coffee shop and never come back, lest he be reminded of the worst day of his life before he’s ready to face it.
Or: five times Frank and Mel share food, and one time they don't.

Summary
“If you’re saying you’re impressed, then I guess there’s nothing to be embarrassed about,” he replied with a light tone, but his eyes were more hopeful than playful as they searched hers for an answer to the question he hadn’t quite asked aloud.
“There’s nothing to be embarrassed about,” she shyly affirmed, looking away from him as she warmed under his lingering glance. You impress me.
He knocked his knees against hers, and she returned the gesture by playfully nudging his shoulder with her own. They made eye contact once more, laughter bubbling easily between them as they each looked away after a charged second.
Mateo started nervously, “Would you like to grab dinner with-”
“Yes,” Victoria interrupted, turning to look at him with a soft smile, then looking away bashfully, “yes I would.”
