Celine was put in an impossible situation. Run the Sunlight Sisters record label, try to keep demons out of the world in the absence of two hunters, and raise a child that wasn't hers, all on her own.
Oh, and of course, just to add to the difficulty of her situation, the kid is half demon. She's lucky she's so stinking cute.

I've seen so many stories completely villainizing Celine, which I'm totally interested in exploring don't get me wrong, but I also disagree that that's how she is in canon. She's a lot more complex than that, I think. That being said, this ALSO isn't based on canon. This is Celine doing a better job at being the parent Rumi needed.
Also note that the first chapter is a prologue and not really in the style that the rest of the fic will be written in, it's just like that for atmosphere!

“I just have one more thing I wanna do, if that’s okay.” Zoey kicked her chair around the operating table and grabbed Rumi’s other wrist in her hand. This time, Rumi put up a slight fight as she wrapped the padding around it.
“What kind of thing?” she demanded.
She was getting unruly—Zoey had to hurry. She wrapped the second strap around her and buckled it, pulling it a bit tighter than the first when Rumi began to kick and strain.
“Nothing scary!” Zoey reassured her. Rumi’s face contorted as she fought, but the straps were strong, and she made a guttural noise when she found she couldn’t move her arms. “I just think you’d do better tied down. Please stop thrashing,” she added. “It’s going to hurt more that way.”
Zoey is a mad scientist, Rumi is the half-demon that somehow wound up in her clutches, and Mira is a little in over her head.
