All things considered, Daniel is actually self aware enough to know that Claudia probably wouldn't like his most recent book. What's done is done, what's published is already out in the world to be dissected, but it would be disingenuous of him to lie, pretending even in the relative privacy of his own mind that he's ever thought otherwise.
