Summary
When he’s ten, Orion recognizes Slytherin’s locket in the drawing room, lost amongst other nicknacks and cursed items, knowing better than to touch it.
He stares for a long while, wondering how he could’ve forgotten, before turning on his heel.
He remembers the story. How can he not? But it’s fragmented and jumbled in his head, blurring with what he knows of this life and the details he does recall don’t concern him.
There’s only so much one can remember about a book read a lifetime ago.
Orion has no interest in getting involved.
He’s got a life. A name. A duty to his family.

omg this was so good!!! brief reminders for myself so i dont forget:
- oc (orion) is the son of sirius and marlene. bellatrix kills marlene and takes him. the wizarding world is under the impression that bella is his mom. he was raised by walburga and kreacher, walburga died after first year and he now lives with the malfoys
- orion is very smart and was taught french and german. he has a lot of black pride (and prejudice). still he doesn’t participate in any magical racism himself. he mostly watches from the sidelines and makes fun of draco for his potter obsession.
- orion is friendly with hermione (they exchange books) and he is in a weird sisters fanclub.
- some of my favorite moments have been when orion is being a quintessential black. like cackling in inappropriate moments, barking a laugh like sirius, winking at remus during the opening feast.
things im interested in seeing how they play out:
- his relationship with sirius. sirius knows of his existence via one dog interaction when orion was smoking cigarettes outside with sirius’ old lighter. is he going to welcome him or is he going to blatantly prefer harry? also— the question of how orion knew of his innocence
- will sirius tell people that bella is not orion’s mother? lucius did say it was too late atp and would look like pandering.
- will orion finally move back home? will harry join?
- i do really like the orion/harry interactions so far. im interested in how this will play out. loved when orion found harry in the wardrobe and cackled and put his arm around him. also, harry clearly has a good enough opinion that he was willing to speak to orion privately.
- last note, i love how the slytherins are fleshed out into real characters that are really just school children. this fic has really mastered the vibe that the first four books have before cedric’s death. orions interactions with honestly all of the characters are hysterical yet believable
sirius is free yay! and peter i custody!! i was scared for a second, ch23 really shows how good of a manipulator peter is

- orion has to be my fav oc of all time, i was smiling for most of this chapter, despite how frustrating the characters were
- sirius saying he would disown orion, not inviting him back INTO HIS OWN HOUSE but inviting everyone and their mom over, getting harry a christmas gift but not orion, saying the black family vault would collect dust if he didnt otherwise spend it on harry.
- ORION GOT YOU OUT OF PRISON. my god. totally deserved to set the table on fire. even if orion wasnt jealous, which he deserves to feel, he should feel some type of way bc that is mad disrespectful.

- lucius and draco surprised me in this chapter, lucius with good advice and draco with his humor
- orion has only mentioned walburga fondly, i wonder if shes going to be a point of contention

seems like harry’s latest obsession is orion lol. love orion putting his foot down about keeping the black family alive conflicting with the trauma it gave sirius
orion and the dursleys was hilarious
