Sure, Jessica is just a friend, and Lily isn’t even a girl, and the girls he meets in clubs and bars never get his phone number, but he’s trying. He just hasn’t met the right girl yet. Or: Somehow, despite Shane and Ilya being out for two years, Scott Hunter is still considered the first openly gay player in the NHL, much to Ilya’s horror.

Summary
Commuting back and forth between Boston and Montreal is boring, flight delays are even worse. Even MORE boring are the amount of dick pics on a certain app as Ilya's looking for some entertainment. But then there is Shane, Shane is only 788 meters away. Shane is a bottom (allegedly) and Shane has the most aggressively straight profile Ilya has ever seen on a gay hookup app. He just needed to make sure he wasn't a straight who lost his way, that was the only reason he messaged him and agreed to meet him in an airport lounge.
It was the only reason they kept meeting up after that, just to make really really really sure he wasn't straight.
Shane is a Captain in this universe too.
