The cabin sways faintly. Each movement makes their knees bump, barely, like the ride is trying to push them closer.
Cheng Xiaoshi shifts to face him fully. “You’re really okay with this?”
“With the ride?”
“With today. With me.”
Lu Guang’s eyes linger on his. There’s a pause before he answers. “You’re loud. You talk too much. You eat like a feral raccoon.”
“Is that a yes?”
Lu Guang doesn’t smile, but something gentler rests in the corner of his mouth. “It’s not a no.”
in which Lu Guang keeps a secret, Cheng Xiaoshi walks into it by accident, and what follows is a photoshoot, an amusement park “date,” and a night that lingers a little too long.

Cheng Xiaoshi can claim to be a few things.
A no one to everyone, an enigma against the bright colored backdrop of life that fills in the space around him. Cheng Xiaoshi lives through photos and the few hours he’s allowed in another person’s past, through another’s memories and experiences, never with any of his own.
Not to him, a tinny voice in his head muses, sounding suspiciously like Qiao Ling, never to him.
