Summary
Zuko flinches the first time that Sokka reaches out to cup his cheek.
It’s a visceral thing; a knee-jerk reaction that leaves Sokka stunned and Zuko humiliated, his reaction to something so small weighing down on him like the greatest of failures. He knows he’s not in danger, knows that he never is when he’s with the water tribe boy- it’s just, the last time someone touched his face, it was to permanently mar him. And his body seems to hold onto that fact, even if his heart so desperately wants to let it go.
Or: Zuko usually doesn’t like having his face touched. But Sokka is an exception- and one night, he tells him why

“Goodnight, sweet boy.” Sokka mumbled, barely awake. He placed a kiss on Zuko’s nose as he tangled his hands through his hair.
Sweet.
He’d called Zuko sweet. Was it some kind of sick joke? There were lots of words Zuko could use to describe himself, but that wasn’t one of them. Not in the slightest. He was rotten. Vile. Bacteria in a festering wound. But he wasn’t sweet.

In other words: Zuko enters a self-hate spiral, wildly misinterpreting Sokka’s words and feelings.

If Bruce could just take this seriously, Clark's heart could make it to the end of the month. Except that by the end of the month, Bruce has been kidnapped again, and this time Clark has no idea where he is.
