Summary
For months, Buck has been professionally harassed over dispatch by one infuriatingly calm operator with a smug voice, a superiority complex, and a deeply concerning habit of calling him sweetheart over an active emergency line.
Buck hates him.
Obviously.
Then he meets Eddie Diaz in person and unfortunately discovers that the smug voice comes with stupidly nice hands, unfair eye contact, and a thirteen-year-old son who immediately decides Buck is his problem now.
Worse, Eddie gets weirdly possessive every time someone else looks at Buck too long.
Worse than that, Buck likes it.
And when a bad call turns into a building collapse and Eddie has to listen to Buck trapped beneath it over an open dispatch line, suddenly none of it feels like a joke anymore.
Or: Buck and Eddie fall in love while arguing over city emergency communications, and literally everyone is tired of them.

Summary
Surely once Edgar has his raven, the rest of the world will make sense, and he won’t be such a stranger to the rest of his family. So every night since his birthday he has left his window unlocked, waiting with a mixture of nausea and hope. Not every Allan boy gets a raven, but every Allan with a raven is a boy.

Summary
No one has ever painted grief the way Evan Buckley does tonight. Even last night in the kitchen, with his steel jaw and shimmering eyes, that sharp and sure sorry I’m sad that Bobby’s dead, falls short of this husk. Through the mourning and the funeral, through the gaping silences Bobby used to fill and the tear-soaked prayers for this all to be a wretched lie, Buck has never looked so hollow.
For someone so loud and tall, all-encompassing and bright, he’s sickeningly good at making himself small, at curling up like a dog in the pound. It’s jarring to see him like this after dinner tonight, where he’d been so open and booming. Laughing and poking fun at Eddie, catching up with Chris, waxing poetic over Pepa’s cooking — he’d been happier than Eddie had seen him in ages. He’d been okay, nothing like the shell Eddie had snarled at in the kitchen. He’d been fixed.

Summary
“I can’t lose you again.” The confession comes out cracked, pressed against Buck’s hair. “Do you understand me? I can’t. I can’t do that again.”
He is not even sure which again he means. There are too many.
Again like the shooting, when the world went white around the edges and all Eddie could think was Buck. Again like the lightning, when Buck’s heart stopped and took Eddie’s with it. Again like every moment Buck has ever been on the wrong side of a closing door while Eddie stood there, helpless and furious and praying to a God he only remembers when it’s Buck on the line.
Or Eddie holds Buck while they wait for help to arrive

Summary
Eddie could pick Buck from a million miles away. Buck’s entire being was like one bright light in an otherwise cloudy sky. So, he was really interested to know why some stranger was wearing his boyfriend’s turnout coat and pretending to be him.
“This is Captain Nash for Firefighter Buckley. Please report.”
“Bobby,” Eddie said, already hurrying after the guy who was definitely not Buck. “Hey!”
