    The sun was peeking through a thick canopy, casting wondrous shadows. The snow fell around the town like a blanket, the silence accompanying it akin to children sharing a secret at midnight and trying to keep down their giggles.

    As Saki turned her head back towards the bed, she replayed her reality in her head, a chant, a tale and a prophecy all at once: a girl sitting quietly on a hospital bed, trying to keep up dwindling spirits at the reality she faced, the sense of normalcy slipping like sand through her fingers.
