He means the removal of the prosthetics, probably, maybe, but Sam thinks of the blood immediately. Sees it, feels it, spilling down his own chin from that last evil bite. Gushing from Jacob’s—Louis’s? Jacob’s— jugular.

He shrugs without even meaning to, and the words just fall out of his mouth completely on impulse. “If you’re curious, I’d be happy to help you out.”
A small gasp escapes Jacob’s lips, followed by a weak laugh. He thinks Sam’s joking, but when Sam doesn’t burst out laughing, his face turns serious again. “Wait. What?”

“Alright?” Sam asked in that quiet voice that was neither his true accent nor Lestat’s French timber, like a coin caught on its side, unsure where to fall.
Jacob only nodded, still blinking tears from his eyes. His coin had fallen quite resolutely on the side of Louis. He knew not to speak, for only an American accent would fall from his tongue and give him away.
Sam, of course, knew anyway. He slid his hands up Jacob’s back and neck to gently cup his face, slipping his thumbs across damp cheeks to catch the excess moisture still leaking from his eyes. Jacob could do nothing except grip his wrists, holding his steady warm palms to his skin, and tipping his head forward a few inches until his forehead came to rest against Sam’s.

Carl’s first impression of Akram is not his face or even his voice. It’s his solid weight settled on Carl’s belly, legs splayed wide, slacks riding up just slightly as Akram saves Carl from his pitiful attempt to bench press. Carl is secretly grateful to have a legitimate reason to be out of breath, not just the exquisite man perched sinfully on his lap. All in all, it’s an incredibly distracting way to meet his new assistant.

Akram’s smile seems to catch him unawares and he shakes his head. His ankle presses back against Carl’s, a very deliberate touch, and Carl tries not to choke on his chip as he pops it in his mouth.
Or, a thunderstorm keeps Carl and Akram from returning home... and there's only one bed.
