Summary
Freddy is afraid.
He opens his eyes and ten minutes have gone by. He’s in the same exact spot, except Billy’s left the room and his limbs are sore because he’s gone all tense in a way that sends spikes of pain shooting up his leg. He sits there for just about twenty minutes, trying to staunch the panic clawing its way into every pore of his body.

Billy says, “Are you okay?”
You’re alive now but you weren’t before, Freddy wants to say. You’re alive but the dirt from digging your fucking grave is still lodged under my nails and I can’t forget that an hour ago you were dead.
Instead, he says, as though he didn’t watch his entire world collapse in less than ten minutes and one giant lightning bolt, “Yeah. Never better.”
(or, grief is just love with no place to go. freddy doesn't know how to put his down just yet.)
