Summary
“It was raining in my dream too.” Durin wraps his wings tighter around himself, his hands clutching the point of his tail. The scales there are smooth and hard—nothing like the faux enamel cracking under the rain—and unlike his skin, there aren’t beads of sweat making them damp and blotchy. The black and crimson give him peace; he didn’t have this tail in Simulanka. He is no longer in Simulanka. He isn’t what he was in Simulanka. “The water was hurting me. Like… Like I was being erased, like a drawing.”
Dvalin rests his head on the grass next to him, the listening ear he promised to be. “Like you were drawn on paper left outside?”
“No, I wasn’t inside a sketchbook or anything. It was my body.” Like he was sugar dissolving in tea. Limbs jumbled and brain confused about how much of him was still there. Questions about if he had been there at all in the first place.

“Well…” Durin lowered his voice. It wasn’t that he didn’t trust Hat Guy — far from it, the scholar was one of his closest companions — but this felt more… personal to him and Albedo. “I guess I’m wondering what Durin was like. You know. The one before me.”
It was only for the briefest of moments, but Durin caught the way Albedo’s eyes narrowed. Then he sighed and patted the ground next to him. “Sit.”

the celebration of durin’s newly-achieved permanence is cut short by a freak avalanche that traps the little dragon and his brothers in albedo’s mountain camp with no way to contact the outside world or find out if help is coming.
meanwhile, durin starts having strange dreams, albedo grows more distant by the day, and hat guy is threatening an international incident.

Summary
There ain’t much to him, is what Jabber thinks when he first meets his new roommate in the August of his sophomore year. It’s some Japanese dude. The name went in one ear and clean out the other. He’s kinda pretty, actually he’s a lot pretty, but his serious bearing and general vibe are indicative of one of those guys who never did anything fun in high school and doesn’t plan to start now. A total square, in other words. Positively rec-tang-ular.
Pretty is nice though. Jabber likes his eyebrows and his two-tone hair, the big blue tassel earrings and big blue eyes, and he especially likes the stiff expression he gets when he goes, “Ay, mind if I smoke?”
Turns out, Jabber's new roommate situation holds a lot more potential than was initially apparent.
