Summary
It is a ruin, to love someone like this, so wholly and without reason. How human he is: bleeding from the inside out.

They take care of each other in a string of little ways.

Summary
It was completely fine that Jon was following up on this very normal, non-supernatural statement at midnight on a Friday. He was going to find nothing at all, and then he was going to go home and sleep for fourteen straight hours and feel absolutely no qualms about moving case #0150409 directly into the filing cabinet marked "discredited."
Or: Jon and Martin investigate Carlos Vittery's basement and find the entity formerly known as Jane Prentiss together.

Summary
Martin finds them eventually, tapered white wax, twenty or thirty of them beside a box of ancient (but dry) matches, and a little brass dish with a slot that just about fits the base of the candle. He feels like Scrooge, fitting the whole thing together, tucking a few more into his pocket before striking a match -
Which immediately goes out.
“Oh, fuck you,” Martin says into the murk.
Again -
And again, the fire vanishes. Quick and efficient as a breath. He shivers in the sudden cold.
***
Martin Blackwood inherits an old country house, but there are more inhabitants than he first realises. When eventually the paranormal occurrences become too frequent and dangerous for him to ignore, he has to turn to a group of misfit ghost hunters for help.

Bookmarker's Notes
Got nearly as mad at Jon in this fic as I did at him in the original series. This is a good thing, he was accurately infuriating. I’m gonna be thinking about this one for a while

Summary
“I know what the Archivist is.” Everyone knew the Archivist. Many assumed he was a relative of the Grim Reaper, a cousin of the Boogeyman. The innocent assumed he was a concept or a symbol; a funny little name to curse when the tingling on your neck became unbearable, when you turned to see no one watching, when you knew someone’s eyes were on you anyway.
The unfortunates knew he had a body, a home, at least two eyes. The unfortunates knew the feeling of being watched was less a feeling and more a knowledge; the really unfortunate knew the Archivist’s name was currently Jon.
There was currently only one really unfortunate.
---
Martin wanted nothing more than a brief holiday—travel a bit, meet some people, home before anyone could think to miss him. Being unwillingly offered up as the Archivist's first and only assistant was most definitely not part of the plan, but what else can he do besides make the most of it?
He'll at least try to survive.

Summary
“You need to learn a lesson,” she says, and there’s blood speckling her lips now. She’s overstraining herself. He needs to stop her, calm her down. “And until you learn it you will suffer, just like you’ve made me suffer.”
“Mum, I think you need to--”
It turns out that when his father had called his mother a witch, he had meant more than Martin realized.
