    Sometimes, grief has a gravity that you never get up from. And sometimes, it leaves little boys that have glass in their teeth and punch-scraped skin with a hole in their heart and blood in their mouth, and a five-year long taste for vengeance over the murder of their best friend.

    Gotham claws its way into the hearts of its children and leaves oil-smears on their souls. For Danny Fenton, he is no different and no better than the rest of his fellow kids of Crime Alley. It doesn't matter if he's been gone since he was eleven. Blood has always been a part of him, so it's second nature for him to pick up his fists and turn them into claws. It's how he's been taught, after all.

    And what he's also been taught, is that arrogance kills, and the Joker has been long since due for his fill.

    What's one more death in Gotham's long list of them?

    Dash never put much thought into his joke, almost catch phrase at this point, "it's not gay if he's dead" justifying some of the comments he and others made about Phantom. He didn't question if there was more to the statement until rumors spread around Casper that Phantom likes men, and is in a relationship with Fenton of all people makes him realize some things about himself.

    The last thing Peter sees is Tony's horrified, heartbroken expression leaning over him. The guilt in his eyes is almost worse than the burning pain that's taking Peter apart piece by piece. The world starts to go dark.

    There's a flash of gold and green. For one moment, he finds himself standing amongst the Guardians and others. And then darkness again. It feels like blinking; an extended period of nothingness that ends as abruptly as it begins. One moment there’s nothing, the next there’s light.

    “Easy,” a woman says. Her words are gentle, and carry a slight accent that he can’t place. "I'm called Wonder Woman. What's your name?"

    When Peter messes up Dr. Strange's spell in the sanctum, it explodes before the sorcerer can contain it, and Peter, as the eye of the storm (so to say), is caught up in the ensuing mess, where the spell traverses between dimensions, searches for ones where no one knows Peter Parker is Spiderman, finds way too many of them and narrows it down to worlds where no one knows who Peter Parker is, period, and then flails around because oh, look, still too many! Then snags itself on the first one with any connection to Peter, or, in this case, Richard Parker.
