Rubbing his gums raw with even more of the white powder, Mike finally felt the buzzing come back, like someone flipped a switch in his brain. The tiredness that was weighing down on him in the car ride dissolved away, an electrically sharp rush filled his body, making him feel whole again.

"Goodbye Harvey"
He turns to leave and fuck, Harvey doesn't want him to, because he'll never come back. So he blurts the only thing that comes to mind.
"Coward", he mutters, loud enough to be heard.
It does the trick. Mike freezes with a hand on the door, and neither of them moves a hair for the next few painful moments. The air around them seems to be holding its breath, a delicate layer of thin glass that could shatter with the smallest touch.
Harvey almost winces, silently cursing his alcohol-induced brain for its stupid decisions. But he stands his ground, as Mike turns slowly back around to face him.
"What did you just say to me?"
