Summary
There’s a kitten on Shane's lap, a naked kitten, and it’s pushing its head into his hand as he speaks to someone probably on his other monitor. “I have a meeting in a few,” Shane is saying, still not realizing that the meeting in question is currently happening because someone joined without Shane having to physically pull him in. “But after lunch I’m all yours. We can talk about the launch then.”
“Okay,” the other voice is tinny and a little disjointed, but Sergei doesn’t think he’s ever heard it before. He’s almost certain there’s an accent, but he can’t fully tell it’s that far away. “I’ll put you in my calendar.”
“So generous,” Shane jokes, gently scratching between the kitten’s ears. “Penciling me in.” He glances down for the first time, realizes Sergei is there and jumps, dislodging the kitten. “Shit, fuck, sorry, Chexy.” He looks over at his other screen and says, “I have to go, see you in a few hours.” Shane waves his hands at the other person before they can even say anything, and turns his full attention back to Chexy. “Sorry, that was HR.”

Summary
Before his attacker can lay another hand on him (before he’d run out of time, before his fantasy of living is up, before they take him up to his father-) he turns into them, grabbing the wrist of the hand that has a grip on him and yanking them forward. They yelp (above his head, they’re taller than him then) but he ignores the sound, darting out a hand to clamp it over the back of their neck (long hair brushes against his hand, past their neck, female?) and hooking his leg around to sweep their legs out from under them. He puts them hard onto the library floor.
A red haired girl stares up at him with wide, shocked eyes. Her hair, tied up in a perfect blue bow, fans out around her, russet curls framing her pale face. She’s dressed in a white shirt with a soft-booking baby blue sweater and a pleated blue skirt. Her tennis shoes are cleaner than anything Neil has ever owned and her knee-high socks are patterned with cartoon bunnies on a solid blue background.
They stare at each other for a moment, she’s breathing just as hard as Neil, and he can’t tell which one of them is more startled by what just happened.

Neil was dragged there by his friends and was looking for trouble. Somehow, they met in the middle. Andrew on his knees and Neil losing his mind against the wall of the alleyway. Since then, the rabbit has been a constant thorn in Andrew’s side."
