Summary
Carl isn’t thrilled when Daryl and Michonne bring home a strange boy they’d found alone in a candy store, but then again, he’s not sure he remembers what happiness even feels like anymore. Not while his dad keeps trying to shape him into someone he’s not.
Is it even possible to be two things at once? A farmer and a survivor? A boy who kills other boys, and kisses them? He doesn’t know. He’s not even sure he wants to find out.
Turns out, the stray kid is as antisocial as Carl, with a sweet tooth to match, and after being taken care of by kind people in an unkind world, they’ll fall in love with each other and then, eventually, their mutual best friend, too.
Predominantly based on the TV series, with select elements from the comics. Later arcs include Dead City & The Ones Who Live (second to last chapter), with lore from the Daryl Dixon spinoff, Fear, Tales, and World Beyond where relevant.

"Tell me, Ghost… how to reach into your master’s heart? I seem to be failing at it miserably,” He laughed at his own misfortune, hand still not leaving Ghost’s soft, white fur.
The direwolf leaned into the touch, closing its eyes, only prompting Satin to caress it more. He scratched the animal behind its ear, hand slowly sliding down under his muzzle. Its jaws could snap him in half if it wanted so, but under Satin’s touch he seemed like the tamest of pups, giving into his gentle touch.
“You’re such a good boy,” Satin smiled, endeared as he scratched the soft furs, temporarily forgetting he was petting a direwolf.

Satin pines for Jon and ends up doing something lewd with Ghost. Ot was it really Ghost? We'll never know...

The guilt had been eating away at him since the moment it happened, and Jon had not been able to bring himself to look his steward in the eye all day. It wasn’t Satin’s fault either, Jon knew. It wasn’t his fault he looked the way he did. His face was simply his face, his body simply his body. He didn’t walk about provocatively, dress in revealing or even form fitting clothes, he didn’t do anything to earn the wagging tongues and hungry eyed stares Jon knew followed him about Castle Black like a clinging shadow. Satin wore mismatched black leathers, thick heavy cloaks trimmed with matted black furs, and beaten patched-up woolen tunics to drive away the worst of the bitter chill like any other brother of the Night’s Watch. It still wasn’t enough to mask what was simply inherent to him – that he was beautiful.
(Jon is no fool. He knows he wants Satin. He knows it's wrong but he can't help it. And Jon can only resist for so long.)
