“Eh? Next- Is it already the 17th?!” Emu yelped, jumping in place. Damn, had she really forgotten to keep track of days like this? Just a week ago she was rolling in her bed all evening, brainstorming with Meiko on which gifts Tsukasa would have liked the best.
Alright, she clearly needed rest way more urgently than she thought. And so did all her friends. How are they going to put up a good surprise for their friend, when Nene has barely slept in the past week and Rui looks like he has seen a zombie apocalypse?

A sneeze, from the body she was pressed against. It startled them both. Lumine jerked back slightly, her eyes widening.
“Be healthy,” she said, in broken Snezhnayan. She'd learned that from Anya, when Teucer had a sneezing fit after lunch one day.
“Thanks, myla, but—”
Another sneeze cut him off, more forceful than the first. He pulled away from her slightly, turning his head to the side as his body shuddered with the effort.
“Ajax?”
He opened his mouth to respond, but the words caught in his throat. Instead, another sneeze erupted from him, followed by a grimace.
“I’ll be okay.”
Or, Ajax gets sick. Lumine spends some time keeping an eye on him.

After that very first time starting his ‘video diary’ of sorts, Adrien felt like a weight was being lifted off his shoulders. For a while, he could just relax and talk. He talked about everything and anything. Things that happened to him that day, people he met and even akuma attacks. Since no one was going to see the videos, he could be open about his identity as Chat Noir.
Everyday when he gets the chance, he sits down and presses record and every day he feels himself deflate from life’s struggles as he admits his secrets to the camera. Not everything he talks about is heavy stuff like his father or his rigid schedule, sometimes it’s good things too. He likes those day’s best, when he can reel off little stories about his friends or stopping by Marinette’s parents bakery. He never leaves empty handed.
Soon, the videos really start to pile up.

She stares at him with cold eyes, but not with indifference as she once might have. The complete opposite. She’s too invested in staying by his side to simply accept what he proposes and walk away. She keeps her hands folded in front of her, respectful in the presence of the emperor, and her head bowed low.
“What was it all for, sir?” She asks, knowing that it’s out of line to question the Son of Heaven, but demanding answers all the same.
He doesn’t take his eyes off her; they’re obviously pained but full of certainty, as if the unilateral decision he’s made is the right one. It’s only right in that he has the power to make it.
“I promised you that I’d never cage you,” He says simply, although his voice is scratchy and worn down from what might have been hours of crying before this meeting. “That’s a promise that I will not break.”
