Summary
Robby shifted the takeout bag to his left hand as he unlocked the door to Jack's condo, then walked in. He started to call out—
A moan stopped him short. He zeroed in on the black leather couch, spotting a naked woman riding an equally naked Jack, flat on his back, his hands obscene on her hips as he pulled her down onto him.
No, not just a naked woman. A naked Emery Walsh.

Summary
Sometimes.
Every now and again.
Jack and Robby fuck.
There’s no real rhyme or reason for when it happens. It’s not always after a difficult shift, and it rarely happens when they both have the day off. Just sometimes, every now and again, Jack will turn up at Robby’s home, or Robby will knock on Jack’s apartment door, and when that happens, they just head straight for the bedroom.

Robby and Jack's very secret, very casual relationship gets discovered at work and Robby struggles to deal with being the center of attention

"Is it possible Robby thinks you and I had a torrid affair?" Walsh asked later, leaning against the counter next to him.
"Torrid?" he echoed, in disbelief.
"Any affair with me would be torrid, obviously."
Jack made a face at that horrific thought. "I have never implied to Robby that we had an affair, torrid or otherwise, because I don't hate myself."

Summary
The job offer came out of nowhere. Centennial Hospital, a level 1 trauma center in Colorado, wanted him to take over for their retiring chief attending. They'd heard the same rumors as everyone about PTMC—how it'd be taken over, transformed, the ED shut down. Didn't Jack want to get ahead of it and find himself a new gig, head of the department, master of his own fate? And the money, of course. Lots and lots of money.
Jack promptly told them to fuck off.

Summary
Jack just laughed and shoved him a little harder into the door, a visceral, physical reminder: he was in control now. He expected Robby to bitch him out, sharp like he got when cornered—
Except instead Robby slumped, his breath out almost relief, like all the fight had drained from him. He didn't say anything, just took a few shaky breaths, body shivering under Jack's—
...oh.

"Tell me something that brings you comfort."
"Something that brings me comfort?" Robby shot back, his tone mocking the frivolity of it, because he never was one to just follow directions.
"Yes," Gene said, eternally unfazed. "It can be the smallest thing, whatever comes to mind."
What came to mind was: Pens games, the trails at Frick Park, the rare book collection in the Oliver Room at Carnegie Main, a cortado at Sage Caffe. But what he said was: "Jack."
...wait. Shit.

Summary
"What do we got?" Robby stepped forward as the paramedics pushed the patient into trauma three. Santos was already at his shoulder, pulling on gloves, while Whittaker hurried in behind them with a tablet.
“Sixteen-year-old female,” one of the paramedics reported. “Name’s Nicolette Rosetti. Collapsed immediately after performing. Blood pressure ninety over fifty, pulse one-thirty. Has been in and out of consciousness.”
The girl looked impossibly small on the stretcher.
Her dark hair was twisted into a ballet bun that had mostly fallen apart, and faint stage makeup was smeared under her eyes. Glitter clung to her cheekbones. Her eyes were closed, but her expression was far from peaceful.

Summary
"It's late to start riding," Jack said as Robby straightened, a neutral statement that was a protest nonetheless. They knew how to say things without saying anything, the two of them.
Maybe that was part of the problem.
Robby stared down at the still-sleeping baby. "I have a lot of things to see," he said, almost to himself, a double layer to that, one that Jack found oddly heartening.
"And people to love," he said, taking a flier on it because why the fuck not.

Summary
Parker had just gotten the patient's CT results when Toomarian pulled up short by central and stuttered out, "So, um, is it possible that Dr. Robby and Dr. Abbot are about to make out in Trauma 1?"
The intern clocking their weirdness on day one? That might be a new record.
Parker didn't bother looking up from her tablet. "Now that sounds like the definition of not my business," she drawled. "But if you see any hot man-on-man action, note the date and time. Ahmad's got a pool going."

Summary
"I want to be alone, Jack," Robby said, short and sharp and pissy.
Fucking great. Apparently in the 45 minutes since Jack had last seen him, Robby had gone from devastation to anger. This would be fun.
"It's nice to want things," he drawled, deliberately light. "I wanted to walk out of Iraq on my own two feet, but hey. No plan survives contact with the enemy and all that."
Robby turned then, looking at him over the top of the couch, face drawn, eyes dark in the low lights. "Yeah? You my enemy?"

Summary
There are many things MD Jack Abbot doesn’t care for as a wolf: French blue cheese, uncooperative patients questioning care providers at every turn, the ceiling light in the upper-left corner outside Dispatch flickering a white glare sharper than the rest.
Right now, it’s that silvery cougar, tail swinging in lazy arcs and talking Robby up in front of the nurses’ station.
Jack scowls.

Summary
“You’re jealous.” Jack drawled, leaning back against the door.
Robby contemplated denying it—the old game they’d been playing. Jack would get him riled up, he’d act petulant and they’d fuck it out. At least the sex had always been good. But he couldn’t stop thinking of the way Al-Hashimi and Jack exchanged glances, the charming smirks and quiet understandings between two battered souls who’d survived the same hell and back, or how Dr. Mohan smiled at Jack, small and intimate, adoration spilling over from her gentle gaze.
Robby looked back at his own haggard reflection in the mirror, water dripping down his chin, bags under his eyes.
Suddenly he’s bone-tired.Bookmarked by The_Colonel

Summary
When Jack is about halfway finished, buttered up with good food, Robby begins, "So, you have another night off..."
The other man stops mid-bite.
"Do you... want to spend the night? You know, winding down together, maybe watching a movie, sleeping in the same bed."
"Haven't done that before."
"I know," he says. The food waits patiently underneath him, and he wishes he'd drunk a little more liquid courage, because then he'd at least be better at selling it.
Or,
For the first time, Michael Robinavitch and Jack Abbot spend the night together. They don't know if they're going to make it work, but the only way to have it start working is to start.

Summary
"Why didn't you tell me about this?" Jack says.
Robby winds around himself, almost too mortified to speak. He forces out, "You were so happy with the arrangement that I just thought it was... out of the cards."
Jack looks at him plainly. "I'm not happy. My husband is withdrawing from me. The guy I'm married to didn't seem to want me in bed with him. I thought something was really wrong, man."
"Fuck. I'm sorry." He scrapes a hand over his eyes.
Jack takes his head in his hands, forcing their eyes to meet; with great importance, he tells him, "I love you. You deserve to feel good."
Or,
Michael Robinavitch discovers that he's a bottom at 54 years old.

Summary
Dana shot him a meaningful look. "She up and says to me that Robby can't stand to be alone, has got the TV on in his bedroom all night."
Jack scoffed. "No, he doesn't."
Dana stilled, her blue eyes locking onto his. And just like that, it went from an idle comment to a moment. A moment that expanded, curling into something weighty, settling leaden in Jack's gut. "That right?" she muttered, and there was a whole epic journey packed into those two words, going from how would you know all the way to how did I not know.
Fuck.
