Summary
The face moved with Will. Its eyes widened when his did, filled with the dread he could feel in the pit of his stomach. There was something uncanny about being met with a face he’d known all his life and yet hadn’t seen outside a farsight mirror for what felt like years. Not even uncanny, but rather entirely wrong.
He was not supposed to be here.

Summary
Will’s always been set on helping others, and he’s damn good at it, but rarely does he shed tears for himself. When he talks about himself, it’s always for the benefit of others, making promises to right wrongs even if it means enduring the unjust prejudices people have toward him. Strohl used to think it was admirable, but seeing the way Will fights against the need to let what he’s feeling out is one of the most heartbreaking things he’s ever seen.

Summary
Will brushes with death. Leon Strohl doesn't take it well.
It's unseemly what Will does to him, the way that Leon thinks of him, fixates on him, with an intensity beyond fraternity, beyond admiration, beyond even infatuation. He is not much – objectively, he is not much at all – yet the way that he makes Leon's heart lurch with something kinder than fear, warmer than loneliness, is ruinous.
