Summary
To anyone else, Akira might look normal. Fine, even. But there's a closeness developed through physical proximity, and Morgana's spent long enough attached at Akira's hip to recognize the heartbreak in his face after Akechi leaves.

Summary
Goro spends the evening before signing his own death certificate listening to tinny jazz music and sipping on a drink that's too cold to really enjoy in the February air, and all he can focus on is the relaxed slant of Akira's shoulders.

Summary
Eddie wasn't sure what he expected the afterlife to look like, but he was sorely disappointed.
At one point, after the pain radiating from his chest eclipsed the sound of Richie hurling insults at the clown but before his vision truly faded, Eddie had thought to himself I don't want this to be all I get. He deserved—better.
(Or: Eddie is far too stubborn to let death stop him from getting what he wants.)

Summary
Gentle flakes of snow float downward in lazy drafts, enough to be noticeable but not to be bothersome. None of them stick to Akira’s glasses, which is another minor miracle Akira is guiltily grateful for when it means his vision is completely unobscured to watch the little white stars melt into sparkling dewdrops along the collar of Akechi’s coat and in the wisps of his hair.
Beneath the warm glow of the streetlamps and the few still-illuminated storefronts, he looks damn near ethereal. Akira has never been one for unnecessary chatter, but even if he was, he doesn’t think he could break the silence if he was paid to do it.

Summary
Akira knows in the back of his mind that denial is the first stage of grief, but he pushes the thought aside. He's not in denial because he's not grieving because Akechi's not dead. He just isn't. He can't be.

Summary
I’m hungry, Falin says one day, so Senshi cooks her a feast. The meat sits heavy in her stomach, the sauce sweet yet savory, but it’s not filling. I’m hungry, Falin says, so they try to figure out what type of diet she needs: heavy in protein, near raw, a meal fit more for a beast than a girl. Marcille watches as they make meal after meal, yet Falin still hungers. Marcille watches and hungers herself.

Summary
“Nobody seems to know what to do with you. When I received the call, the warden seemed bewildered that you were even here at all.” It was a phone call that Naoto would not soon forget—the chilling way that the warden seemed to continually forget what he was asking mid-sentence, unable to latch onto Akechi’s name as if his existence was something contingent on his direct and immediate presence.
Akechi bared his teeth, eyes in shadow. “Nobody has ever known what to do with me,” he said, voice dripping acid.
“Then, this should be refreshing for you,” he said, delighting in the way that Akechi’s gaze sharpened as Naoto plucked a nonexistent piece of lint from his coat. “You’re coming with me. To Inaba.”
At the end of P5R, the world forgets Akechi.

Summary
"Then what brought you out here?" asks Lala. "To pay a premium for sparkling water?"
"Oh, you know," says the uptight boy, lip curling. "Life. Love. The sort of thing you hear a lot, I imagine."
* * *
There's something wrong with Goro. He doesn't care if Ren wears a dress, yet every time Ren puts one on, it feels like the world is ending all over again. For his boyfriend's sake, Goro needs to fix what's broken inside him, even if that requires drastic measures; even if it forces him to talk about his issues with a stranger. Or, worse, talk about them with Ren.

Summary
Amamiya isn't nearly as terrified as he was. As he should be. Instead his head is cocked, and he sounds equal parts frustrated and confused as he says, "I thought I was getting a do-over."
Akechi stares at him. Nearly drops the gun. Tightens his grip until his gloves creak. "You remember this happening before," he says slowly, more an accusation than a question.
"Yeah. I thought it was the drugs." Amamiya gestures at the floor, where wet syringes are scattered. "Is this real?"
Akechi realizes that he was tricked into killing a cognitive Ren in time to return and kill the real one. When he wakes up the next day, it's November 20th again, and he is a very stubborn man.
Unfortunately for his plans, so is Ren.
