Summary
At the rink, during the games, Ilya is focused, his goal is clear, and he is locked in on it.
When he’s out of the ice, Ilya feels like a lion in a cage, like he’s pacing around an enclosure that is too small, too tight, too stifling as he counts down the days until the next Raiders’ game against the Metros.
***
Or, after the tuna melt incident and the game that followed, Ilya decides to give Shane some time to cool off before he reaches out.(A continuation of “Love’s the Death of Peace of Mind”, but can be read as a stand-alone).

Summary
He thought he’d pulled it off. He thought he got away with it.
Ilya just wanted more time.
He just wanted the opportunity to pause a bit, to take his time with Shane’s body other than in the confines of a dark hotel room, and to get to see a bit more of Shane’s intriguing mind. He thought it might help quench the unexplained thirst for him, that he has for no one else.

Summary
Ilya loves sex.
Because it’s the most natural, pleasurable activity that any two (or more) consenting adults can engage into that doesn’t come with a defined process, or a one-size-fits-all way of doing it. It’s a dialogue, a very unique give and take between the people involved, a creative, singular experience each time.
He also never repeats sexual encounters with anyone.
There are two exceptions to that rule. Svetlana, and Shane Hollander.***
or: Ilya tries to understand why Shane Hollander has managed to become a rare exception to his rule.Set right pre-tuna melt, and sets the scene to their meeting at Ilya's.
Edit: can be read as a standalone, but now included in a series, as a prologue to my pieces on the tuna melt incident and its aftermath from both their POV

Summary
Because even now, as they eat and David and Shane and Ilya all talk, she is trying to figure out the details of the whole thing, trying to pass her mind back to all those years, figure out if she had missed something along the way. There’s something like grief sitting heavy in her chest, the realization that she had missed every moment of her son falling in love, still can’t understand the how of it all.
OR
Dinner, the day after. Yuna gets her chance to sit down and hear from Ilya Rozanov.

Summary
Every Boston Raider knows that although their captain has a girl in every port, he’s got a soft spot for the one in Montreal. Dr. Shane Hollander knows it’s better to have a semi-regular source of casual sex than try to make a relationship work during residency. Ilya Rozanov knows that the doctor he’s fucking in Montreal is unaware that he plays hockey, and in fact probably thinks he’s Bratva.

Summary
At some point, with JJ and Carmichael punching each other on the other side of the rink, Marleau skates nonchalantly closer to Shane. He doesn't seem aggressive, but Shane braces himself just in case.
Marleau surprises him, though. He talks under his breath, not even a chirp. "Hollander, are you flying back tomorrow?"
Shane looks at him. Most of the cameras are looking away and Marleau is clearly trying to be surreptitious. Shane nods at him. Marleau looks away and he says. "I'll go to the bar in your hotel at eleven thirty. I want to talk to you about something. Be there, yeah?"
Before Shane can actually answer, he skates away.
Cliff and Shane have an enlightening conversation. Shane might need to kill Ilya afterwards.
