Summary
There are three things Katherine O'Connell has kept secret for the better part of a century: how old she is, what she can do, and what it cost her to learn that being useful and being valued are not the same thing. The S.H.I.E.L.D. team physician is ninety-two years old, heals injuries by touch, and has a file with too many redactions in the middle that Tony Stark cannot leave alone.
She didn't account for Steve Rogers coming back, or for meeting Tony Stark and having to explain her history with his father's files. She certainly didn't account for an attractive firefighter who moves like she owns every room she walks into, and has decided that the kitchen at one in the morning is a perfectly reasonable place to make friends.
Kate has survived a war. She'll survive Theo DeLuca.
She's less certain about that every week.This is a character study for two original lesbian mutant characters that takes place in the gap between The Avengers and Iron Man 3.

Prompt: Takes place immediately after Illya saves Napoleon from The Chair. Sure, he's able to walk away from it... but that much electricity coursing through your body will definitely cause some lingering problems, like the fact that Napoleon has a hard time catching his breath, is experiencing heart palpitations, chest pain, dizziness, and basically just having a bit of a hard time recovering from the electrical torture he was just put through.
Illya is desperate to rescue Gaby but also realizes that his partner isn't doing so hot either. Cue him being all awkwardly worried and not sure what to do but (surprisingly) not willing to just leave Napoleon behind.
